Today was mulch and Compost day did a bunch of it.

Took Pole Beans off Cattle Panel and took it down couldn't pull the post.

Son says we need a Post Puller.

Thinking about Austria Winter Peas for Cover Crop. Might use them for Pasture until Spring.

Wrestled with the wild blackberry take over across the side of the pasture again. Hoping this is the last time. Don’t spray them bc the horses eat the berries. What we do for our precious animals.

mowed the back pasture. Checked for deer scat - none , gopher or moles -none . How long will that last it’s been almost 5 months of no critters. I’m just now sorta able to mow with the big tractor without the bumpy ride knocking me outta my seat Created by the moles. Thank goodness for seat belts.

winterizing the water system and bringing planters in.

I don't know about horses, but blackberry seed survive passing through the intestines of birds, they grow under the edge of my fruit cage and other places birds perch.

Had my son do some Tilling. He sent someone in to ask me about Tilling and I was half asleep.

He had asked if I wanted another area Tilled.

Went out son told me he had Tilled for the Garlic but couldn't till the other strip because of straw and it was so wet.

???? I went looked at what he had tilled. Oh no it was my 2 rows of Beets couple inches tall.

We and asked him why he had tilled it? He says there was nothing in it. I told him if he opened his eyes he could see there was Beets.

I'm not allowed to till the reason I didn't do it.

Planted 2 rows of Garlic. Picked Okra.

Covered some Compost. Brought 4 Marigolds to set on the table.

Had a surprise. Bought a White Mum last year. It died way early but got a couple cuts off it,got them started, they was Blooming so I didn't look for much more.

Went by tere big plants with bunch of blooms so going to have couple Mums.

Spread some compost, hoed , but it kept starting to rain and I would dodge into the greenhouse. Weeded the greenhouse, cleaned up a large, green, plastic box that I grew a cucumber in, emptied the top of it and spaced out 30 saffron crocus corms, then refilled with a bit extra of something nice added, pottered with a few other jobs in the greenhouse, and in between showers went out and hoed a bit more. A Malling champion strawberry has set a lot of small fruit, probably to late for it to come to anything, but I moved it into the greenhouse to give it a chance. Cut a few chillies into strips to dry, I'll chop them up when they have dried.

My perennial sunflowers are pretty much over now and the clump is far too big so I made a start on digging some up. Didn't get very far as my back started to complain. Its a job that's going to take some time, I fear.

It has been raining for the past 3 days. No need to water the plants! I harvested some strawberries before the slugs get to them. It is usually a competition to whom gets them first; either us, the dog, the birds or the slugs :LOL::LOL::LOL:. I harvested some collard greens and swiss chard for dinner.

Both gardens got blitzed today as it was dry.
Mowing, weeding, leaf collection.
These begonias are doing well. They are half the delivery I bought on-line as plug plants early in the year. The other half were received dried out so I was given a voucher by the supplier that covered the cost of the order.

One of the four heathers in the troughs on the patio had died. So I noticed these heathers in Homebase. Three for £8. So I thought they'd do for now. The other two won't flower for a couple of months. The third one is on the patio steps now.

The house next door was bought by a Chinese doctor over a year ago. They've left it empty since then. But three Chinese workmen turned up today, to blitz the interior of the house. They've filled a skip with old fitted wardrobes and kitchen units.
They also tackled the gardens, which were completely overgrown.
They obviously didn't want the big tree at the bottom of the back garden.

You can just see a bit of it, to the left of our fence.

Now if you're going to take down a tree you need to have the right protective gear and a chain saw.

But not if you're a young Chinese youth.
Just jeans, a sweatshirt, trainers and a small hand saw.

Getting through the trunk took them over an hour.

They've filled the garden with the branches they've cut down. They'll need another skip.

Planted broad bean seedlings and some garlic. Cleared some stuff that was going over ready to plant bulbs, picked the very last truss of tomatoes, they are a bit orange, but they will ripen better indoors this time of year, and what are probably the last courgette and the last cucumber too. Meagre pickings, but sweet peppers and chillies are still in reasonable numbers. Had a strawberry off the Malling champ[on in the greenhouse, there were two others, but they had rotted on the underside. Been picking up the odd bits of wood and chainsaw sawdust. Someone came and chopped all our logs to size last week, I have been carrying them and stacking them under cover all week, still some to go.

O dear

I was a moderator on this forum for 10 years. Unpaid volunteer...

Ian didn't even tell me he was selling the forum until after he'd sold it, not so much as a by your leave.

He didn't sell it to someone that was interested in gardening, or even looking after forums for that matter.

I tried to talk to the new owner, but the few replies I did get made it quite obvious he wasn't interested and that he just buys forums for the advertising revenue.

He would have got email alerts about the reports people have been sending in about porn, obviously has better things to do than come on here and deal with it though.

I don't work for nothing for people I don't know or like, which is why I took myself off staff.

You know where our new forum is if you want to come along, and if you don't then it's because we didn't invite you.

I thought I'd start a new thread that can be continuously updated by everyone any day of the year. We have people on the forum from all around the world, so there is always somebody doing something with their garden. I think it would be nice to check in and see what our members have done. So whether you've been busy today or busy three months from today, here's the question... What did you do in your garden today?

I spent today preparing my vegetable garden. I had tons of weeds to pull. There's some kind of invasive grass that pops up in there, along with creeping charlie, so I pulled as much as I could find. I can start planting in about four weeks, so it's nice to have it all ready for the season! If I remember right, peas seeds can be planted before the average last frost date, so I might plant them soon. As some of you may know, growing fruits and vegetables is only a small hobby for me. I'm not into it as much as other forum members. I grow peas for my pond fish, as well as couple of tomato plants, pumpkins for decoration, strawberries, a blueberry bush, and a peach tree. I'm also trying lettuce this year. Tomorrow, I may add a few native plants to the outside edges of my vegetable garden so it looks a little more showy throughout the season.
Today I planted new herbs in my garden and trimmed some bushes to make them grow better.
I wonder what plants others choose. Maybe someone will share their experiences with growing vegetables or flowers?
best regards, emily :)
