I know he's not going to find it. And he can't admit he lost it. its now been a week.

There's a running joke between myself and another member of my golf club, who is a gas engineer and fitted a new boiler in our kitchen four years ago. He also changed the towel rail in the bathroom. This necessitated taking up the laminate floor and a couple of floorboard below, as he couldn't make a connection, one pipe was too short. Then knocking out a small noggin between two beams with a hammer.
New towel rail fitted, floorboards and laminate replaced, All done and dusted.

The next time I saw him at the golf club he said.

"Have you seen my hammer?"

He's said that for years. We reckon he left it under the floorboards.
They aren't coming up.

Replanted a Plum tree that was sent to me full of leaves in early March. Needless to say it died. For Zone 5b way to early but I got a replacement on Tuesday.

So much rain lately in the Midwest. It was 69 degrees and I was soaked from sweat by the time I was done. I was cold but sweating. The humidity makes things so much harder. Added compost and mirconutrients to the raspberries. Leaves showed deficiancy. Also added compost to the interspecific bareroot trees I planted in the spring, Nadia and Trilite. Nadia leaves show deficiancy already. Added micro nutrients to them also.

Later today time to harvest raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. If I have spare time the gooseberries that I'm not to crazy about.

Nothing but looked at it from a distance because it's been raining. Sold 40 cedar posts and spent most of the day online. Lazy day today, not even bothering going to the gym tonight. Popcorn and a movie. Tomorrow morning I have a load of brush to take to the landfill. Might sprinkle some Epsom salt around my tomatoes, I'm worried how wet it's been the past few days.

I picked some cucumbers today. We have been blessed with so many cucumbers (and squash, for that matter) that we've been able to give them to our friend who we work with each week to feed and clothe the poor, homeless, and/or drug addicted folks in our city as a part of a ministry our church has. She uses them in the meals she makes each week. We are very surprised that our tomatoes are still green. We have tons of them, but they aren't turning red (yet). They seem to be behind schedule. Other people here are having similar issues. They are growing fine, but just not making the transition to red. We have no idea why.

We have watermelon and honeydew melons growing as well. Those were sort of an accident, but we love melons, so we'll nurture them best we can and see how they turn out.

ripe tomatoes release a gas (Methane?) Which is the simplest hormone there is. Put a ripe tomato amongst them and it will help them turn

Harvested blackberries, gooseberries, cucumbers and blueberries.

Peach fell off the tree. It's nice and clean so it can ripen on the counter.

Started building a cage around the raspberries.
Not exactly sure what you meant by cage but keep in mind you will need to cut off second year canes after they fruit. Might be hard to get them out once they are stiff and wrap through the cage but again I'm not sure what your thinking.

Keep the bottom open so you can easily cut and remove the old canes. It is already difficult with the new canes in the way. They dont grow staight up as they fight each other for light. They slightly curve and twist around each other.

I made a mistake and didnt run the wires to tie them at planting. With the thorns, new and old growth it is more difficult to attach the wire beacuse they are in the way. With the heavy fruit load it will lean over and touch the ground. Once the old canes are done fruiting I will attach the wire since I'll have more room but the new canes are already starting to lean over and will hold that shape. Plan to pur a bungee cord until I attach the wire.

Just a trying to help from what I have experienced.

Thanks for sharing. A cage around them to stop the birds eating them all and leaving us none. :(

I grow Autumn fruiting ones that fruit on new growth, so pruning is easy, simply chop everything back to ground level at the end of winter and start anew.

All my raspberries are fruiting primocanes. I do the summer 2 year canes. Remove them after fruiting and then the small harvest in late summer fall. Small harvest is nice since I already had my fill and don't need to cleanup as much. However, only the Heritage will give me the fall crop. Guessing for my zone the other varities need more time. Maybe now that they are established a late crop but no luck the last 3 years with the Crimson Red and Double Gold. Not sure what happened to the Yellow Anns. Double Gold is my favorite as far as flavor.
