Morning all, very frosty. 0-4c
I'll have to get my thermal leggings out.
There's going to be snow over the Welsh mountains,so not far away but,it shouldn't get to Redditch.

Hi,

Yes, too liberal. I don't mean to cane kids, but kids should be given lessons on empathy.

Forgot to say I heard gunfires. My son heard gunfires twice and an old lady said she thought she heard gunfires. They have rifles for leisure .. They shot a dent in my Satellite dish and also shot at a pigeon flying in my other neighbour's garden.. A whole family of sociopaths.

Oh dear alp; this sort of behaviour should be jumped upon by the police stopping it dead; why wait until it escalates then appears on the national news showing someone has been killed but never mind "it's a rare occurrence" and "lessons will be learned". I've said previously criminals are looked after whilst victims are ignored. Many years ago a guy shot and killed one of two burglars he caught in his home; this after repeated complaints to the police; the action taken was to jail him when he should have been given a medal the size of a dustbin lid and lots more ammunition; I'm very peaceful and against violence but if needs arise I too will defend ourselves and our property; if we all wore a vehicle registration plate across our chest then the slightest infringement would result in an immediate fine? Bron and I also suffer bad neighbours alp and have endured these for the last 31 years; they won't win and they certainly are not happy people but they won't drag us down to their gutter level. Anyway enough let's look on the positive side of life and try to ignore such low low who eventually will self destruct. :):):)

Yorkshire and Humber
Forecast Summary
  • Today
After a cold frosty start a fine sunny day is expected, albeit rather chilly and feeling colder than Friday in the fresh westerly breeze. An isolated wintry shower is possible, most likely over the hills.
What is it with these weather forecasters and Fenay Bridge; Thursday night was to be very frosty; yes across the street it was but then I have my constant companion Blackie my huge black cloud who soaked everything or ours; above is a clip of today's weather forecast; where's the frost; Blackie again has been in attendance and everything outside is sodden; £millions spent on satellites and weather stations when all they have to really do is look out of the window; of course it's cold it's the UK. Yesterday I potted six Viburnum and like a fool followed the instructions stating water well; no sooner had I watered them that Blackie also gave them a drenching; I'd plant rice but here on the steep valley side it would get washed away.

40 free large mixed daffodils were supplied with the Viburnum so it looks like I'm in for wellies and mud trails again today. I like to get my moan out of the way first thing then I can enjoy the rest of the day. :D

Good luck to your hubby in the snow Logan hope he returns safely from the shopping; snow here is a nightmare due to the many steep hills.

Kind regards, Colin.

They should not have received the £1m bonus and instead the money should be used to refine their forecasts. Don't you think?

4 to 8c.. and it will be part sunny. Gong out today .. get to break the monotony.

@alp we live semi rural, away from all the traffic but have local shops. I used to walk into town, is a long way. I'd do it once a week, also to see mother in law. Now we've got the boys,i don't and sadly she's not here anymore.

Well, at least, you have the dogs to make you walk and the morning air in a semi rural area has got to be better than mine. You've got the boys to thank for.

Yes thanks, what i'm trying to say, you should get something similar if you can.:)
His mother thanked me for going ahead and getting a dog, she said he didn't look very well and now he does. Wasn't really planning on getting a second one, but there you go.

She said the man hoarded tons of child p orno and was worried that her calling the police would expose his illegal activity. They were in debts for the cat and dog food and vet bills.. whilst both were lecturers

I didn't mean a pet, i meant your next house.
People like that shouldn't have pets, there's places they can go nowadays.

Hi,

@Colin I have to move whilst I can. You want to enjoy life.. I would rather live in a tiny house where I can open all windows and enjoy fresh air..

It must be highly frustrating for you alp living the way you do. Unfortunately there isn't an easy solution because it comes down to funds available; if everyone was rich then such places as yours wouldn't exist but we aren't all rich at least in monetary terms.

Before Bron and I married and whilst we were courting I had a terrible life living with my family who were driven by money to the point of stealing and cheating so I couldn't save anything. Bron and I obviously were unfamiliar with buying a house and who could we turn to for advice; we saw an advertisement in our local paper by a company called "Key Finance" whom we contacted for much needed financial advice; we had been looking at an old end terrace house in a very run down area costing £2,200 but we were refused a mortgage hence the decision to seek professional advice.

Unbeknown to my family Bron and I arranged a meeting with the guy from Key Finance at Bron's parents home; this at that time cost us £30 which is nothing now but was quite a bit of money then.Key Finance went through our earnings and although we had been turned down previously at £2,200 the advice offered was to go for maximum mortgage at £6,500; WOW this was scary; Key Finance arranged a meeting for us with a building society and us having found a semi in a much better location we were granted the mortgage; we were both working and saving money at Bron's parents where it was safe and all correspondence was addressed to Bron's parents; only when we had the house signed for did I inform my family and we were getting married; after a big falling out with my parents Bron and I left my family home with a few of my possessions and got off to a very bad start indeed with my family saying they wouldn't attend our wedding. My family did everything possible to come between us and they turned up on our wedding day spoiling what should have been the best day of Bron's life. My family continued for many years interfering in our lives and only a few years ago my sister and two brothers spirited away what should have been my inheritance a quarter of my parents estate when my mother died. To this day all Bron and I have ever been given of value by my family is a single new food mixer as a wedding present from my younger brother. I've often said I must have been switched at birth. In spite of all this nastiness I've married my soulmate in Bron.

Just my story alp and I hope it gives you a bit of hope because your surroundings appear to be dragging your spirits down; only you know what you can afford but I've taken the time to add this because Bron and I didn't know what we could afford so we took the initiative to find out from someone familiar with finance; the £30 we spent for the advice was the best £30 we've ever spent; yes it plunged us into a 25 year maximum mortgage and we couldn't even afford a second hand sofa but year on year we very slowly progressed; 31 years ago we moved here to our dream bungalow at then £40,000 and given our income at that time it was another huge struggle but here we are now happy and content and I've finally divorced my entire family of vultures. Bron and I don't have children so at least we haven't had that expense.

If there is a secret to financial security then I think it's a case of living within your means; debit and credit cards aren't real money until they get out of control; I still pay the supermarket bill using cash as I do when I fuel up the car; this is real money I can see not just a bit of plastic.

Enough of this because I don't want to be seen as preaching or on a soap box but Bron and I did without so much to achieve our current lifestyle and it all kicked off by seeking professional advice.

Being happy and content alp is what matters whether in a mansion or mobile home; if something is upsetting you then take your time to study your options. Please be careful and good luck.

Yorkshire and Humber
Forecast Summary
  • Today
Widespread frost initially. Most places dry and sunny, and feeling cold with a brisk northwesterly wind. Occasional wintry showers are likely to affect the Calderdale, Kirklees, Barnsley and Sheffield districts at times. Cloud will thicken later with winds easing.

  • Tonight
Cloudy with persistent rain arriving during the evening, becoming windy again and briefly milder. Turning colder again during the early hours with scattered showers, these perhaps wintry over the Pennines.

Another load of rubbish from the expert weather forecasters; please see the pictures above taken at 7:45 this morning; WIDESPREAD FROST? OK where is the frost? WOW if this carries on our patio might actually dry before Blackie gives it another soaking but I'm not holding my breath.

£1million pound bonuses alp are to encourage incompetence and are a reward for failure but much lower down the pecking order to make a simple basic mistake is to be fired? Society as we now know it leaves much to be desired.

Kind regards, Colin.

Your posts make fun reading although you sometimes come across still very angry. No need! I always block out unpleasant things and hence I sleep like a log. When we bought our house. Ex was very unhappy as he spent a lot of money on his flat and that flat was very near a pub - pub is his 2nd home ..

Any way, after the first mortgage was up for renewal, I opted for a tracker mortgage and reduced the year term. The longer it drags on, the money the mortgage company will make out of you. I organised all the extra payments and by 2007, we paid off my mortgage for this house which we bought for £77k in 1995. Now my ex has his house and we have ours, everybody is happy.

When I collected the free wormery, I encouraged the young man to pay much as he could and then I realised that he had to pay £300K.. Oh, dear! Even £164k is difficult to pay off. No wonder people are worried. Imagine you fall ill and lag behind with mortgage...

Then we have all these people coming to the country, laundering their money using trusts. And some buy up a whole block of flats and x 2 as well. Just how can our young people get up the housing ladder? Imagine £300k need to be paid off, probably 2 life times ..
