Hi,
@Colin I have to move whilst I can. You want to enjoy life.. I would rather live in a tiny house where I can open all windows and enjoy fresh air..
It must be highly frustrating for you alp living the way you do. Unfortunately there isn't an easy solution because it comes down to funds available; if everyone was rich then such places as yours wouldn't exist but we aren't all rich at least in monetary terms.
Before Bron and I married and whilst we were courting I had a terrible life living with my family who were driven by money to the point of stealing and cheating so I couldn't save anything. Bron and I obviously were unfamiliar with buying a house and who could we turn to for advice; we saw an advertisement in our local paper by a company called "Key Finance" whom we contacted for much needed financial advice; we had been looking at an old end terrace house in a very run down area costing £2,200 but we were refused a mortgage hence the decision to seek professional advice.
Unbeknown to my family Bron and I arranged a meeting with the guy from Key Finance at Bron's parents home; this at that time cost us £30 which is nothing now but was quite a bit of money then.Key Finance went through our earnings and although we had been turned down previously at £2,200 the advice offered was to go for maximum mortgage at £6,500; WOW this was scary; Key Finance arranged a meeting for us with a building society and us having found a semi in a much better location we were granted the mortgage; we were both working and saving money at Bron's parents where it was safe and all correspondence was addressed to Bron's parents; only when we had the house signed for did I inform my family and we were getting married; after a big falling out with my parents Bron and I left my family home with a few of my possessions and got off to a very bad start indeed with my family saying they wouldn't attend our wedding. My family did everything possible to come between us and they turned up on our wedding day spoiling what should have been the best day of Bron's life. My family continued for many years interfering in our lives and only a few years ago my sister and two brothers spirited away what should have been my inheritance a quarter of my parents estate when my mother died. To this day all Bron and I have ever been given of value by my family is a single new food mixer as a wedding present from my younger brother. I've often said I must have been switched at birth. In spite of all this nastiness I've married my soulmate in Bron.
Just my story alp and I hope it gives you a bit of hope because your surroundings appear to be dragging your spirits down; only you know what you can afford but I've taken the time to add this because Bron and I didn't know what we could afford so we took the initiative to find out from someone familiar with finance; the £30 we spent for the advice was the best £30 we've ever spent; yes it plunged us into a 25 year maximum mortgage and we couldn't even afford a second hand sofa but year on year we very slowly progressed; 31 years ago we moved here to our dream bungalow at then £40,000 and given our income at that time it was another huge struggle but here we are now happy and content and I've finally divorced my entire family of vultures. Bron and I don't have children so at least we haven't had that expense.
If there is a secret to financial security then I think it's a case of living within your means; debit and credit cards aren't real money until they get out of control; I still pay the supermarket bill using cash as I do when I fuel up the car; this is real money I can see not just a bit of plastic.
Enough of this because I don't want to be seen as preaching or on a soap box but Bron and I did without so much to achieve our current lifestyle and it all kicked off by seeking professional advice.
Being happy and content alp is what matters whether in a mansion or mobile home; if something is upsetting you then take your time to study your options. Please be careful and good luck.
Yorkshire and Humber
Forecast Summary
- Today
Widespread frost initially. Most places dry and sunny, and feeling cold with a brisk northwesterly wind. Occasional wintry showers are likely to affect the Calderdale, Kirklees, Barnsley and Sheffield districts at times. Cloud will thicken later with winds easing.
- Tonight
Cloudy with persistent rain arriving during the evening, becoming windy again and briefly milder. Turning colder again during the early hours with scattered showers, these perhaps wintry over the Pennines.
Another load of rubbish from the expert weather forecasters; please see the pictures above taken at 7:45 this morning; WIDESPREAD FROST? OK where is the frost? WOW if this carries on our patio might actually dry before Blackie gives it another soaking but I'm not holding my breath.
£1million pound bonuses alp are to encourage incompetence and are a reward for failure but much lower down the pecking order to make a simple basic mistake is to be fired? Society as we now know it leaves much to be desired.
Kind regards, Colin.
