Hi,

Thanks alp; sorry if I do come across as angry but then people have made our lives so very difficult for absolutely nothing we've done against them and it's always with us not allowing us to fully relax; Bron is still terrified my family will at some point get in touch.

How times change though alp; 41 years ago Bron and I were turned down for a £2,200 mortgage but now we often see people on "Grand designs" borrowing well in excess of £500,000. People talk about poverty but how is poverty defined these days; we struggled to buy food and clothes 65 years ago?

Buying a house is always a gamble because a lot can happen or change in 25 years; as you rightly say to fall behind with mortgage payments means losing the house; how many ended up in this exact situation a few years ago in the recession losing everything they had done their best to work for. I feel very sorry for all those made homeless due to floods which they have no control over; life can be so hard.

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi,

Everything normal on our patch; wall to wall rain; miserable and 6C. Bron and I have just returned from Meadowhall 23 miles from us; 3 miles out the rain stopped and it brightened up with 7C; 3 miles from home on the return journey back to rain and a miserable day still at 6C; if only we could move our bungalow 3 miles in any direction to get from under Blackie our permanent malevolent cloud? Does anyone want to adopt a big black cloud?

In post #1304 above I posted a picture of our patio actually drying out saying I wasn't holding my breath in the hope of seeing the patio fully dry; no sooner had I posted this that Blackie gave everything a good soaking again; I've been buying potted shrubs and the planting instructions advise well watering after planting; this is automatic in Fenay Bridge without touching a watering can or hose. Moan over for today but I feel better for it. :) :D

Kind regards, Colin.

Yes, Thursday is even worse. I have used the plastic sheets for protecting furniture to cover some of my plants. I bought some domes

Like this 50p each reduced. I thought they were very expensive and the wind blew it miles away. Wanted to return them and son said there were stakes inside and now it works beautifully. The covered alstroemeria has now 3 buds ..

I have to say your milk bottle was a genius stroke and it works the same treat!

That looks very good. Yes it makes a difference when we use things properly.;):D I'm the same.Yes the milk bottles do work but, they don't look so nice, especially in the front garden.:)I've made a scoup for the bird seed out of one bottle.

But you know, the plastic is so filmy that I wanted to return them. Not as sturdy as the milk bottles .. and they are not cheap.

Hi,
I've been buying potted shrubs and the planting instructions advise well watering after planting; this is automatic in Fenay Bridge without touching a watering can or hose...

Wish it was the same here! I watered on area, had another look, the soil was dry again. So I watered it again and after that I told myself NOT TO LOOK AT THE SAME PATCH AGAIN as it would be dry AGAIN!
