A chilly 27 degrees this morning, but we are to get above freezing later today. We have a heat band on one of the chicken waterers, so they have fresh water, not ice cubes! We are to be cold for three or four more days, so there will be a lot of baking going on. Love a warm oven!
There is quite a bit of pruning to do in the flower and vegetable gardens, but unlike that hardy soul Colin, I'm waiting for warmer weather.

Hi,

Well, in just a few days, we've gone from -temps F to 50+. It is raining horrendously right now.

Apologies MoonShadows; I wondered where my Blackie had disappeared to because we haven't had rain since I polished the car yesterday and Blackie then gave the car a good soaking; any chance of you adopting Blackie; I'll be happy and willing to sign any paperwork. (y)

I wish I was more hardy than I am marlingardener then I could carry on in sub zero working conditions without feeling perished; a few years ago I was out digging in -5C trying to locate our leaking drain only to eventually find the builder who built the two roomed extension onto our bungalow had buried the drain in 19" thick concrete; it took me a week of enduring torture as I attacked the concrete with a big SDS drill in chisel mode; I found the broken clay soil pipe and also thought what top class workmen we have these days when I found one of the broken pipe joints stuffed with supermarket plastic shopping bags. I've just visited our local car accessory store to buy oil for the new rotavator Bron kindly bought me for Christmas; I'm so sick of waiting for decent weather I plan to try the rotavator out tomorrow before it and I are antiques. The high for tomorrow is forecast 5C so I'll be wearing my normal year round heavy coat and hat.

I love the smell of baking almost as much as scoffing what's baked; it sounds like a good plan being near the oven; nice one. :)

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi,

Definitely not joking MoonShadows and you can also adopt his sister Gale too so you could have your own water and wind turbines. Water turbine for mechanical power and wind turbine for electricity. (y):D

Yorkshire and Humber
Forecast Summary
  • Saturday
Mainly dry and cloudy, with limited bright or sunny intervals and perhaps some patchy drizzle, especially over high ground. Generally breezy and feeling cold. Particularly windy along the coast.
Patchy drizzle; well I like a joke and yes we're on high ground.

Kind regards, Colin.

Well, in just a few days, we've gone from -temps F to 50+. It is raining horrendously right now.

When I woke up yesterday, it was 57F, and raining. By noon it was 34F, and still raining. Then the rain turned into snow. I've not gone out in it yet, but the news confirmed what my eyes see - we got between 3 to 5 inches of snow. And there's a sheet of ice underneath it. I guess I'll be leaving for work early today.

Currently it is 6:45 am, 10F (-12C) with a wind chill of -4.

The forecast for the week - more snow on Monday, and we won't get above freezing 'til next Friday. On a positive note...maybe I'll get a picture of a pretty "snow-covered something" for the Picture of the Month thread. :ROFLMAO:

5 to 7c. Not a good day for going. But will go to get some fresh air and have a break before doing the last path. Glad that we have got such a lot of shingles for free. Hope there is enough to do the last one.
