I can see blue sky, but tons of scattered clouds. I need to work hard today.

Hi,

When i was going to school,we never had this nonsense of not going because there's a few inches of snow. Sometimes we had to keep our coat on because the heating had broken.

60 years ago as a kid very few owned cars; these days families own multiple cars and an inch of snow means modern cars get stuck hence kids can't get to school; if the snow is a bit deeper then the 4x4's also get stuck. We kids never had this problem because we had feet and legs unaffected by deep snow. Very well done the Chinese kid in the picture; so many in the UK these days would let someone else breathe for them if they could.

Health & Safety is very important Logan so why would we complain these days if kids need to wear a suit of armour to play conkers; kids shouldn't be subjected to sore knuckles should they?

Bron and I were driving down the M1 motorway early this morning in dreadful dreary wet weather amidst masses of overspray from vehicles and of course it was the usual black hole. A miracle is occurring as I type; the sun is shining and we are now enjoying a 7C summer's day. I'm now going to sue Blackie for breach of contract?

Kind regards, Colin.

I distinctly remember walking home in a whiteout storm in third grade. Bethel Alaska. Snowplow on the bus still would not get the bus close enough, but it was only 1/2 mile or so, and I had a raised boardwalk I could detect and follow under the snow. Chapped skin though. Dry arctic winds.

Your rhubarbs growing?? Crikey! I haven't seen mine. I secretly wish it was dead. It took up soooooo much space and I had to add sooooo much sugar to make it palatable. I blamed the 50p reduction. If it hadn't been reduced and Logan talking about it, I wouldn't have bought it.

Yes. A totally blissful day! Glorious sunshine and gentle warmth!

Very quiet morning 6 to 8c and sunshine in the west side of the country. Fair enough! We had it yesterday. Can't complain.

Hi,

Oh dear I've really done it now. This morning I washed and dried the Yeti (Skoda) then knocked off for dinner. This afternoon I've had the cheek to give the Yeti a good polishing with "Showroom Shine".

https://www.greasedlightning.co.uk/products/showroom-shine?variant=8753674627

It's suddenly become very dark outside so I'm expecting rain and lots of it. No sooner had I finished polishing the Yeti cat paw prints are all over the top of it; it's a good job I love cats.

6.5C as I worked on the car but it felt warmer than this although it's very cloudy but then it would be with Blackie just waiting to give everything a soaking; I bet first thing tomorrow morning when I set off to the shops the Yeti will be wet?

Kind regards, Colin.

Some posh car owners went to extremes to stop birds fouling their cars.

We have a cold front moving in--the winds are up and the temperature is dropping. We are supposed to be in the mid-30's tonight, with a high of 45 tomorrow. The cats have tanked up on cat food and are in their shelter snoozing, the hens are in their inside coop, and we have hot quiche and a nice wine on tap for dinner. Bring on the cold, we can cope!

Another dull and dank day! 5c to 9c.

People are now talking of the beginning of another ice age. Shockingly cold everywhere and yet Australia is suffering from 42c and fires. Looking at Oprah surveying her mansion and all the mudslides and fatalities, we really should be counting our blessings, Don't you think so, @marlingardener ? Your animals are lucky to be kept nice and warm in this extreme weather.

Britain back on Arctic storm alert with freezing gales, snow and temperatures as low as -10C - and warning of fog set to cause road and air chaos in the morning
  • Commuters will be hit by travel chaos as some parts of the UK will be covered in a blanket of fog tomorrow
  • The Met Office has issued a yellow warning and urged motorists to allocate more time to make their journeys
  • One forecaster warned that gale force winds will batter Britain next week as temperatures could drop to -10C

Hi,

The only time I'd attach such barbaric spikes to our trees or fences alp would be to keep burglars; drunks and druggies out; all animals are welcome in our garden; I'd remove the tree rather than adding the spikes.(y)

I'm surprised our Yeti remained dry for 30 minutes after polishing it yesterday before Blackie gave it a good soaking and as expected it was soaking wet early this morning.

Why should the above make headlines when its normal weather for us? Today is a much better day than many days which were jokingly called our summer last year; bring it on I've just ordered ten Hostas which are classed as hardy and I've got a big SDS drill I can use in chisel mode to break through frozen ground; I'm fed up of being constantly controlled by our dire weather so I'll now ignore the weather and do what I like. :):):):D

Kind regards, Colin.
