Good Morning Friends...Cant wait to finish work today, lots of jobs to do and complete...I'm off in the morning to get some paint mixed to a colour to match the wallpaper swatch...that should be interesting and probably expensive :rolleyes:
The garden itself needs a little attention and a general tidy round..The grass needs cutting but its so boggy out there as we are on clay happens every year when the weather turns wet, its a wonder how the grass actually survives.
Must dash someone is looking their curtains hung this morning £4,000 pounds sterling (and they are not the most expensive we've made and fitted)...you have to pinch yourself sometimes...Dick Turpin wore a mask:whistle:

@alp thanks, he will. Have to stop his food and put him on dry toast. This breed can get upset tummies from time to time. But i think it's something that he's picked up. Is the horse manure well rotted ?and be careful not to put it too close to your plant stems.

Morning all, managed a quick look in, hope everyone is well.

@Verdun we are still waiting for our rain , so if you can find a long stick and push the rain clouds along the south coast it would be greatly appreciated:D

@Logan ,hope Barley recovers quickly.
I feel so sorry for you and your ' waterworks' . I have inherited my mum's problem and had urine infections monthly for years ,became quite ill and run down .Finally had an operation about 18 mths ago and was put on meds for a year and all was going well.......but since August I have had 2 more ...... think it is linked to me being tired and stressed from all the ongoing events.......well I hope that's why!!!!!
The pelvic discomfort and backache can be horrendous, so you have all my sympathy.

Have a good day everyone!

For sure Upsy, I would love to push the rain your way. I love the summer; the thought of autumn is (slightly and temporarily) depressing :unsure:
Sorry to read some of you are not too well right now. Hope Barley recovers soon too :)

I am with you on autumn....so dislike it .......yes I know the colours can be amazing......but for me it represents death and decay ( gosh....how gloomy sounding am I!!:eek:)
Think I must suffer from SAD......think it will be worse this year as it's hub's first winter in retirement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;):D

You feel "naked" when you SO is at home .. retired .. It's as if someone clamping your style, @Upsy Daisy ! Reading about all these ailments, I really must pinch myself and count my blessing. The only time I had urinary infection was after s** during pregnancy :p;). Whenever I read about the term, I think about that ..

Rain has come and gone. The big blue blob has never materialised. Now the sun is out. Tidy up the lean to so that we both could walk.

I have a very dry and hot patch which has the sun on from 5am to 8pm when the setting sun adds to the heat and dryness of that area. So it is an east facing and west facing patch.. What should I plant there? @Verdun et al: any suggestion? I weeded the whole area and the neat is further worsened by a dwarf wall and I have 3 fruit trees there - danson, plum and peach.

Finally, found the camera

The following streptocarpus Blue Frills were taken by my son

The first year I had my streptocarpus, I always thought people were pulling my legs with their numerous flowers in ONE pot. Now this Blue Frills has shown me that it is possible to have so many flowers in one pot.

@Upsy Daisy thanks. How are you doing?Barley's slowly getting better thanks.When i was in my teens, had a lot of urine infections. When i was in my early 30s, started getting problems not being able to go and a lot of pain. I had scar tissue from the infections. The urethra had narrowed and shortened. They called it, urethral stenosis. Had to have op to stretch it.
They said my bladder had been weekened from being pregnant. Advised me not to have any more.
@Verdun thanks. We had some heavy showers and thunder this afternoon. So i made some more cucumber and chilli pickle. Got loads of cucumbers.
@alp lovely flowers.

@Logan and @Upsy Daisy Whenever I heard of urinary infections, I thought people had been having fun and that was the cause. Never knew the cause could be so tragic and terrifying .. Just show how much I know. Hope you two can be free of this problem forever and ever!

Nepeta does very well in such a dry hot site alp.
Lavendar if soil drains well
Artemisia powys castle and helychrysum, the curry plant, is prob the finest silver plant and is aromatic.
Diosma Sunset Gold....evergreen, aromatic and moves in the wind.
Helianthemums will flower like mad in hot dry sites.
Here agastaches fit the bill. Salvias too.
For something a bit different aloysia citrodora, lemon verbena, would be superb. Forms a small to medium shrub but the scent is unmatchable. For a hot dry spot, esp if you could touch the foliage, what better? :)
