I just used sand and compost. I saw the rose near the town centre. It is white and floribunda. And next to it, there was ceanothus! At this rate, I don't need to buy any plants. Like thornless rose!

I'm off to bed now. Hope you get better soon, @Upsy Daisy ! Good night, everybody!

Good morning, everyone! It's a cool and dark start to the day. Going to be 22c and I am washing the first of my duvets. More to come later. I will iron my duvet sheet for once as the high thread count makes it very unsightedly if I don't. Still have some photos from yesterday

Monty said that dahlias are a bit tardy this year! That's an understatement. This one could be a thin petalled speckled dahlia. Desperate to see if it is a new flower for me altogether

Toms ripening up sporadically - not a joyous harvest, but a hesitant, tentative one ..

Ah, what a lonely soul - the end of August - a hellebore smiled. I don't think I will pinch it. No point, I have had very few flowers.

Hope you're getting better today, @Upsy Daisy !

13-hour shift! That's demanding. Hope you get paid well so that you can pay for you know what!

What kind of lilies are you splitting, @Leeski ?

I usually scale my lily bulbs and end up with 3 or 4 times more. Very easy to do.

Oh, £17 an hour, sounds like a lecturer's pay! Lol!:D Just think about the pound sign when you're working!

I bet if you work in London, it will be more!

You remember that the achillea seeds packets that we bought and neither of us had anything to show for it. Guess what, I have a whole lawn of it.

I bet they are white and I have just mown them down. A whole lawn of these. They can either fly or creep!

Got 6 big clumps of day lillies I got 12 good plants out them for myself will give the rest away to many for me .

Chef wages are the same in London as Liverpool unless you get head chef in top top restaurant then you can earn 100k plus but you will work 100 hours a week and stress levels are out of this world and the chances of have some kinda break down are very high have seen it many times had a friend who was at the top earning big bucks had it all flash car big house 12 months later he was an alcoholic sleeping on the streets very sad :-(
I’m self employed only do what I wanna do charge what I like could work 80 hours a wk if I wanted
Next step for me is to employ another couple of chefs

Leeski Thank you for the education. I want to make a good pizza base and need some help. Will pc you.

Yes, a lot of pressure for top chefs - I'm glad that you're self-employed and can work around your other hobbies and vice versa. Sanity, happiness and quality of life are more important than money. I wish I could lecture my neighbours. But there are people who would engage the grandchildren to do dirty business and I realise that I have to move asap! I had a look at the house prices and regretted that I lowered the prices. Hard to say .. I hope the new owner is a builder!

There was a recent article about the stress levels and the consequences that resulted from them for chefs in the bigger restaurants. Frighteningly getting very common :(

There is so much to learn about being a human being - how to look after oneself, interact with others and cope with stresses.. and look after the environment ... Increasingly, things happen too fast, too soon to children and they don't have the maturity to cope with these seismic changes in life .. all the more sad for them ..
