Right I'm off...stayed on here longer than I planned.

Hub's friend has just arrived so I'm off to look through my Mum's old gardening books that I inherited to read up on scaling lillies...sounds interesting!:)(y)

Have a sunny and satisfying Saturday! I will be off to pick up a rubbish bin for my shingles at 11am and to Wyevale for some free plums outside the shop and see if I can hunt down Robinson - peas, not a man!!

We have eaten all our ripen tomatoes now......just having to wait now for all the rest to ripen, but not sure if they all will now.:(

It's my understanding that if you wrap the green ones in newspaper and store them somewhere cool, they will slowly ripen, and you could be eating ripe toms this winter. (I'm pretty sure I'm missing a step or two. Maybe @marlingardener can fill in the blanks there!)

MaryMary, your method is very good. However, I wipe the tomatoes with a cloth dampened with a 10% chlorine and water mix. I don't bother wrapping ours, I just lay them on a table in the laundry room with several layers of newspaper under them ( at least one is bound to leak!).
We usually have ripe, home-grown tomatoes for Christmas dinner, but we don't usually have a frost until around Thanksgiving.

Good evening everyone, sorry i didn't get the chance to post this morning. It's different on sats. @alp lovely flowers as usual. @Upsy Daisy i hope you're feeling better. @Perki hope your dad feels better soon.:)Went to keiths he's a lot better this week, last week he had a relapse but quickly recovers. Think his daytime carer had a word with them.

Watched the second episode of bodyguard, very good. As good as line of Duty. :)

Seen the last episode of keeping faith, that was good as well.:)
I thought that her husband was dead in the back of a car, but he turned up at the end, after his wife sorted out everything.:)

Off to do some watering in a bit, yesterday had the water bill. But it was only £20 extra from all the watering that we did and having to water the blueberries with it, because we ran out of rain water from the butts.
It would have cost more to replace all the polyanthus around the path.
Got some some polyanthus seedlings going and doing well.
Finished all the wallflowers yesterday got 292. Pity i couldn't make it to 300.:LOL:

Hiya Alp, yes we hope so, i’ve had a good week, so very thankful for that at present. May it long continue, I’m sad that Hardy’s will not be attending Wisley. Not much gardening, mainly catching up with loved ones as my limited energy levels are best spent that way. :)

Thank you, @MaryMary and @marlingardener ! I will have a go when the weather turn disastrous again. But my toms are very small, and some are very green. First time I have intentionally and unintentionally so many toms growing. Well, I have to blame the weather ... and the foul air which has robbed the air of moisture since Christmas 2 years ago!

@Logan That's an essay! Hope Keith is keeping well and you should know that you have competition from this lady from Preston. She has thousands of marigolds and thousands more seedlings. I so admire her - growing pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe and all those. She even snores to nurture them! LOL!:LOL:

@Mark56 Glad that you're feeling good. Long may the good spell reign!
