Is it worth keeping? Please upload photo! Shame that my aquilegias never show me any flowers. If they had, I would give them a chance. I have headache that they are self seeding everywhere. I had tried to sow Nora Barlow seeds and of course, not a beep!

Sounds like you're in not very robust health! Eat more fruit and vegs. I have now carrots, celery (for my arthritic knees), homegrown beans, grapes, clementines (Lidl) and apples nearly every day! I also bought bananas for the skin to be used as fertilisers. We also have lemons to marinate our chicken. Son is now the expert. Also, I use a lot of rosemary for roasting pork and chicken!
I'am a very fussy eater so my whole diet is more a less junk food , don't eat much fruit / veg and not a big meat eater either, I would be lost without the potato.

I have Nora Barlow as well, I prefer a lot of the self seeded aquilegia over a lot of cultivars. I do like Ruby Port it would look great with my anthriscus sylvestris ravenwing and alliums.

@Perki We have junk food every week. Apparently one of the worst ways to cook potatoes is to boil them. Do you do that? Once you have children, you will be a better eater!

That anthrriscus looks very airy and they are the black or dark red palette and I agree they would look very harmonious together. At the moment, I am struggling planting according to heights. Before, I don't even bother, but with a few disasters, I really look at the heights of plants before plonking them down willy nilly!

Good morning to a grey day! Not going to wash the duvet as it might rain later. Now it's grey and a bit sad. Put 3 of my blueberries with pots into the border, also some hydrangeas. Intend to put about 20 out to reduce the clutters along the paths as I have now about 60 plants everywhere in the garden. Hope to do a bit more today.

Also happened to find some dahlias Gallery in the border, being swamped by woodchips and whatnot! Going to plant them out in the west facing border in the front and I am sure the heat will send them flowering.

Apparently, it will be 23c tomorrow - a lot of laundry awaits, no doubts and same for Sunday!

Britain will get last blast of summer next week as 80F heat sweeps in from Spain... as furious Britons slam Met Office after 'sunny' Bank Holiday was washout

  • Temperatures across Britain could reach 80F (27C) in parts of southern England as we move into September
  • Experts say the thermostat could remain above average throughout September and into next few months
  • Yet people angry after reading Met Office's general forecast of hot a August after the Bank Holiday washout

    Indian summer

Whoa! Must plant out my dahlias to the front!

Hope my plants will flower longer! I live in hope!

Morning all, @Perki glad that you feel a bit better.
@Upsy Daisy how's the headache? Hope that it's gone.

I always cook my potatoes and veg in the pressure cooker, a lot more flavour and use the water in casseroles.

Never been a big fan of fruit until a few years ago, didn't have a lot when growing up. Growing up from the very late 50s, everything was seasonal veg and fruit.:)

I know. I love Franz Fafka

and this year, I moved to the hot border rather than amongst the hellebores. Suddenly, when it flowered, it was dwarfed by the other dahlias such as Crazy Love which spread crazily and overwhelmed the area. After one flower, it just sulked.

I moved it somewhere else. Don't ask me where as I forgot to label it!:cry:

I thought I was going to get some seeds as in the hot border, my yellow pompon gave me tons of seeds. Talking about the yellow pompons, not ONE is seen this year. Last year, it was an eyesore as I didn't like it much!

I grew up in the 50's too , and to be honest we ate very well Nothing wrong with eating seasonal fruit and veg at all.....that's how nature is suppose to work !!!, At least it was lovely and fresh and full of nutrients....now you never know how long all the ' picked before ripened stuff has been sitting in cargo holds or shop shelves.

Yes, eating from your garden is especially satisfying. Had beans yesterday and tonight going to be courgette. The new toms have very thick skins, which I don't like much! And none of the sweetness that I anticipated. I'm waiting to get a duck to make use of my own spring onions. By the look of it, I can still sow seeds out as salad leaves only take 10 days to come up.. considering how hot my garden is! Hope it's going to rain today!

Ooops! The predicted 40% rain has gone. No rain icon, but 20% chance of rain i.e spitting if I'm lucky! Made me laugh when @Mark56 begged heavens to turn the tap off!:LOL::LOL:

Going to have my last strong cuppa for the morning! Yes, Upsy: Gazanias are one of the loveliest symbols of summer and sun!

I paid 50p and there they are. Nex time, go around diy stores when they reduce them. Really worth it, but don't feel despaired as I think you've excelled with the other seeds. I killed one or 2 or my French cancan hydrangea cuttings. Need to take more. I wished I had bought the blue one reduced to £2 in Lidl as I paid £5 for Cancan!

Having said that, last year, I saw loads of trays of delphiniums reduced to a song, this year, all downhill and nothing like that being sold at all!
