Hubs and I were sat out in the garden yesterday having a coffee and cake break ,and I asked him what he liked from this years choice of summer sowings , so that I could repeat them next
year. He named ( or pointed to ) his faves then added that there were some height issues going on :ROFLMAO: ( as discussed earlier @alp ;)). I then went to checkout the seed pkts to prove to him that it wasn't my bad placing......just the plants bad behaviour!!!! Cosmos sprouting out tall....we measured it 7ft!! I sowed 5 different Marigolds ( one of hubs faves) one is suppose to get to 2ft.......now 3ft 6in !!

And yes.......I do pinch out!!(y)

Why do these flowers behave so inconsiderable!!! You nurture ,love and feed them and they do this to you!!!!

Worse that our kids!!!!:LOL::ROFLMAO::LOL:

No, no, no! It can't be worse than my son! When he says something, my punishment is to do dinner! In the end, he did most of it as he couldn't control his mouth. When I asked him what he liked about staying with his dad, he said, no housework and he felt safe because neighbour has guns ... I bet he's pleased he would be served from hands to toes by dad next week!

I don't believe in WHAT THE PACKETS SAY any more! As they were supposed to FLOWER ALL SUMMER LONG! We must have a ghostery visitor in our gardens, Upsy!:ROFLMAO:

What kind of cosmos is that? I must avoid it. I kept pinching my cosmos cupcake and now half of the clump has NO flowers - just green! Because of that, I removed 2/3 of the tree branches from my greengages and plum. But still, I haven't seen any buds!

Afternoon , chilly start again but soon warmed up, nice and sunny now.

I do eat boiled potato but prefer them fried, homemade chips yummy, and mash of course.

Dad not so well today, been sick while we've been out working, I've told him he not allowed to play out / go to work for the rest of the day.

Yes, eating from your garden is especially satisfying. Had beans yesterday and tonight going to be courgette. The new toms have very thick skins, which I don't like much! And none of the sweetness that I anticipated. I'm waiting to get a duck to make use of my own spring onions. By the look of it, I can still sow seeds out as salad leaves only take 10 days to come up.. considering how hot my garden is! Hope it's going to rain today!

Ooops! The predicted 40% rain has gone. No rain icon, but 20% chance of rain i.e spitting if I'm lucky! Made me laugh when @Mark56 begged heavens to turn the tap off!:LOL::LOL:

Haha we did have a solid 10 hour continued heavy downpour with wind, the Dahlias were not pleased - they snapped (in both senses!) and wanted a one way ticket back to Mexico where they came from! :sneaky: Think I might join them :ROFLMAO:

Ex said that a very good programme actually recommend stir frying. Apparently, stir frying is supposed to be very good for retaining nutrients.

Hope you take good care of your dad! Hope he gets better soon!

Haha! 10 hours!:cry: No wonder you were welling up too. I've begun to think I have wasted my water on the dahlias but they are next to my hellebores and I have no idea what I am watering!

Went out to the closing soon Homebase! I wanted to my kerosene, remembering my saga with the petrol bomb and also asked by greenhouse heater! The guy said he had no idea about kerosene but walked with me to the new isle and said it would be a good idea to buy a £3.99 one

which I thought was a toy. I wanted to buy this one

I kept seeing this one reduced to clear to £14.

But we didn't have the price tag for the one above, so I asked a lady with a scanning gun to check the price. She told me it would be £40. I asked her if it was to be fourteen or forty. She said FORTY! So half price would be £20. Any way, we got 3 bags of 50L MiracleGro with added slow release fertiliser and they were under £3 each. Now I am off to burying some pots! Wish me luck and staying power!

That small heater was £28 I think! I couldn't believe my eyes.

Just finished the most awful dish I had ever made - rhubarbs with stewed cooking apples and this tarty dish had to be washed down with TONS of icecream. I've tried not to be a fussy eater, but the tartiness was taking the biscuits!

@Upsy Daisy - The vinegar, baking soda did the trick and son was very pleased with the whole experiment. Thank you for the tips! Hope I don't wake up to another 2 sinks of dirty water again tomorrow morning.

Take some rose cuttings without thorns and 4 more French Cancan cuttings. Got another Salvia Patens in the ground with pot as I need to uplift it during winter. 2 blueberries in the ground as well. It's getting cold now.

Sorry to read about your Dahlias @Mark56 :( . Wow 10 hours of rain...that was definitely a good soaking!

@Perki, hope your Dad is feeling a bit better now .

Glad that you now have a fully functioning drain again @alp ......fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.(y)

How do you do rose cutting alp? Think I mentioned that my potato method was an utter failure:(

Right...that's my lot for now. Have a bad migraine and can't cope with the screen for prolonged periods, might look in later .

Enjoy your evening :)(y)
