Just had quick search Argos is doing 15kg of play sand for £5 which seems ok to me :)

That's brilliant. Hope you can lug it to your car! Well done! For cuttings, I prefer sand and compost. Perlite is almighty expensive. It doesn't improve the structure of the soil, unlike vermiculite. I would say, put an advert in Freegle as there are always people who have something lurking in their parents' homes or people do an audit of their garage .. I even had Epsom salt which, at that point, I didn't know what it was!

The weather is going downhill quick. Was thinking of washing one of the duvets, but it was dark and cold and instead of the predicted 23c - it's now only 20c. Have to postpone some laundry to a sunnier day! Well, summer is no more!

Now my lean-to is coming into proper use. But there is no moisture in there.

Last night I was woken up by the smell of burning rubber / plastic. I looked outside and all seemed calm. That's why, like @Logan , I got up very late! And son said that he was woken up by burning tyres two nights ago. @Logan You have a professional dog walker now?!

Morning all !:)
Morning @Perki ......I'm whispering just in case you have a bit of a hangover. .Glad yo had a great time, but sorry to hear that you have a cold now:(.

@Upsy Daisy Why are you whispering in @Perki 's ears? LOL!:oops::LOL:

I hope so. 3 days of 26c will enable me to wash a lot of curtains, duvets and whatnots. Need the heat to do the job properly. I even want to wash my sheepskin boots. I know I shouldn't, but there is the urge to cleanse!

Haha! You have to torture a bit more - like make the right branch bend all the way down to create the contortionist drama! You will get there! A step in the right direction. Well, at least, it's not a privet! Imagine seeing yellow starry flowers in winter! Much better than boring bonsai with no flowers or leaves in winter. A good choice! Love it! Make sure you show us the flowers in winter!

Will have a look around my mums friend has a lovely garden and has invited me for lunch and is given me cuttings from her garden so want to make a good mix for cuttings
Thanks for your advise :)

Whoa! Authorise to take cuttings. Make sure you take a bottle of water to stand the cuttings in. Hydrangea green wood, camellia just brown, Penstemon, no flower stems .. hibiscus, phlox. Make sure you don't miss this. Taking cuttings is far better than raising from seeds. Seeds can be an exciting experience as they might not come true. The bolded ones are very easy to root. If they have salvias, make sure you go for them.

Yesterday, I nearly bought the purple meconopsis again. In the end, I put it back as I won't have the moisture for them unless I build a pond in the shady spot.

Yes, going for evergreen. Last thing you want is a skeleton staring at you in your living room in the bleak winter!
