@Upsy Daisy Terrible void for your dad. Perhaps do something different to distract him. How about buying him a cake or his favorite snacks or drinks. Or even get him a plant. Sorry that you have a train of never-ending family worries. Make sure you keep some gardening time when you're back. Gardening does help. The smile of a flower.. the scent of a bloom ..

Got up 6. Clean up the rest of the mulch bits and had mown both front and back lawn or what was left of them. So pleased that they both look CIVILISED now. Last night, I was watering and panicked quite a bit as I didn't even know what bits to water. When watering with a can, there is always this dilemma. Can't wait for the rain to give me plants a good drenching!

Don't think a plant or cake will fill his lonely hours much @alp, especially when he's always had a dog at his heel all of his life.
No , we have all had very serious worries about how he will cope with life without a furry friend ,especially with the winter months on the horizon....he's always a bit down at that time of year.......dreading it. Think he will require a lot of company.(y)

Off now, he sounded quite upset on the phone just now:cry:

So sorry to hear that Upsy, it is the worst feeling in the world, utterly heart breaking indeed. Do you have a friend with a gentle dog that you could borrow for an hour every week or something to visit him? Could make a difference to his day. I know there is a ‘borrow my dog’ website, where you can walk a dog in your area but you probably have enough on your plate for that. :) just an idea

Funny that's exactly what I was thinking, @Mark56 ! No permanent tie. Just a solace for a day! Brilliant idea!

I’m good thank you got appointment with the dermatologist later on today so I’m hoping can give me some kind of miracle cream .
It’s cloudy and cool on Wirral.
All my late veggie seeds are starting to show which always cheers me up :)
According to met office it’s your last day of mad heat.

Miracle cream! I hope there is one for you. Perhaps, try to introduce good gut bacteria. We always have different ingredients for making soups for various ailments. But those ingredients are sound very alien to me. I do believe you can eat yourself to a healthy lifestyle though.

:LOL::D Mad heat is still very much ON! But hopefully, rain will come in and water all me plants. At the moment, I try not to go to the garden or I will start watering everything.

In this heat, I doubt anything would take. But I will try again using jiffy pellets.I don't even know where they are.

Just dismantled 3 tomato greenhouse. It's just so hot that the plastic felt like melting and I could smell plastic. I reckon tomorrow would be too cold for them. I need to go out and water some pots as they were bone dry. I really panicked when I saw how dry the pots were. Just sit here get the fan to cool me down.

Yes. Rain! It cheers me up no end. Let's hope it rains hard and fast. The window is quite small. Hope you have some as well. This time, make sure your plants are well supported as there might be strong winds later!

Blame it on all the baked beans @Mark56 ;)

Thanks, yes he has a friend with 2 dogs who visits him now and then. No can't really get into borrowing a dog, he's too frail..luckily his old dog was an exact match...loved tv and snoozing:LOL:

I don't really live near enough ( and am dependent on how my arthritis is on the day) to offer to walk another dog for him either and if I am totally honest ( or maybe just plain selfish:() I have a plate that is overflowing!!:(

Very sad here with him though , cleaned the carpet that she was ' poorly 'on yesterday and have gathered up all unopened food and treats....as it stands at the moment he doesn't want her bed and toys removed....understandable. :(

He's spent the day looking through photos of all his past dogs, I've added some I took a couple of weeks ago of his last one onto his laptop for him too.

Waiting for my brother to come and stay a while....but I think he's forgotten and his carer is due at 5pm so I'm hoping he will come over and spend the evening with Dad after his carer has administered his medication.

I have a 2.5 mile walk home and with this heat and two fused feet it's no joke!!:(
