@alp if you go to the BBC weather page it forecasts you for rain on Friday and Saturday too, like us.:)
Fingers and toes crossed!!!

You mean NEXT FRIDAY! This morning, we were supposed to have rain at 18.00 hr. Er, it's now gone. Also, we were supposed to have rain tomorrow, now the icon of one drop of rain is no more!

Aren't we depressing ... rain reigns!

Perhaps some water and cat or dog food!
I do put bird seed, oats and water on the ground, they used to eat that.
I used to buy hedgehog food, it's a bit like bird seed but a different blend.
I know we do get a hedgehog but it hasn't found the bedding that I've been making.

Good afternoon all
@alp we might get a bit of rain tomorrow about 20 percent chance.
Lovely flowers as always. My agapanthus is out, but the flowers seem to be smaller, unless I'm imagining it.

Got a lot of wallflower seedlings come up, 170 so far. Sown a lot more.

With the heat have to keep putting them in the garage at 11am until 6pm

I've rooted 11 blackcurrant cuttings in water, took about 3 weeks.

Didn't think that it will work, i cut out some of the old branches after yhet had fruited, thought I'd try it.
Just potted them up, now where shall i put them.

They're in the garage as well.

Woooooooow! This is so hilarious! Nice to see all these little works of love and labour!

Can I root gooseberry like this (in water?) I am not keen on red currants, but black ones, I must have a try. I nearly missed this again. So glad and uplifting to see all these tiny neat project for next year!

It will - perhaps more water. Even we humans find it hard to survive in this terrible drought and heat!

This is my first attempt at layering I have gentle scraped the bark off the underneath of a healthy branch does this look ok ? obviously the brick is unsightly but only way I could get the branch to the ground - please don’t laugh if I have made a pigs ear ! Lol !

No such luck of rain this weekend either, they seem to have passed us and emptied themselves entirely over London and Reading :( :( everything is so dry, drier than last year. The temperatures have been consistently higher too, some plants are thriving where as others are suffering big time.

Lovely to see the hogs, I wish they came back to my place.

I went to a fantastic nursery in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire. It's called 'plant specialist', lots of unusual well grown plants - a little pricey but worth it for the quality and variety on offer. Highly recommended (y)

We haven't had a drop and this is getting critical. Tomorrow I have to get up at 4 and water the front as well. Everything is dying. I must make a note of this place and when we go to Waddesdon Manor, we will drop by.

This summer has been a complete disaster for most things in the garden....I want the summer over so that I can start afresh for next year with drought tolerant plantings.
I suddenly remembered today that I had planted loads of Cleomes....walked round and round the garden ( not like a teddy bear I hasten to add:LOL::ROFLMAO:) and could I find them......not one single one!!! I was wondering why I seemed to have gaps in the borders...now I know why:cry:
I had all my Snap Dragons disappear too a little while ago.....definitely not happy:(
I've tortured myself by looking at last years pics, and despite the fact I spent most of the summer away looking after a poorly sibling.....our garden looked 100% better then than it does now .

Woe is me.....and everyone else too:cry::cry::cry::cry:

Thanks,
Yes you can try it, do the cuttings about 6 inch or more, not very old wood. Keep them outside in the shade, or a bit of sun. Make sure that the water doesn't dry out.
Gooseberries are much sweeter if left to go a bit soft on the bush.:)
