You can go to youtube to see videos showing you how to raise peace lily by seeds. Unfortunately, I have had a lot of videos in Urdu/Hindi/or strong Mexican accent thrown on me today. But if you can get used to it. some of them can be very good. I used to like raising plants from seeds.

But some freaky fussy seeds have put paid to that. So now I am a scavenger in a posh shop!

Do not favor a monoculture. What you will miss from the oldsters is the variety of seeds they were given which then mixed and gave that seed you saved so straighten up and see(d) that history.

I used to love seeds. As I am always mindful of my money, I would always buy perennial seeds. You were lucky to have such inspiration and role model from you grandma.

One good thing about seeds is that you might have an entirely new plant altogether, which is a pleasure. I am trying to hand pollinate my irises, peony and alstroemerias, but laziness creeps in and I keep snapping the seed pods off the stalk - I am a clumsy person. I know. Once my ex gave me a box of brand new crystal wine glasses. I broke one straight away!

Some seeds respond very well, but some are really tormentors! Some flower the first season, some the following and some can't even see through the first winter.

I grow most things from seed, started off sowing mostly summer bedding, as we had a lot of shrubs that formed the backbone of our garden. As the garden evolved and my ( miniscule) gardening knowledge expanded a fraction I started adding more perennial seed sowings, however I still love my summer bedding as I like to create different summer borders each year.
I enjoy harvesting my own seeds too, which is my current task at the moment.
I am always on the lookout for potential ' cuttings ' wherever I go....love the challenge of getting something to root.
I have attempted hand pollination for the first time this year...not sure if I have been successful yet.
Gardening becomes quite addictive, and is very rewarding......when the rain adds it's helping hand
