I might be wrong, but you might have to pinch the in between new stem and remove some of the lower branches with no flower buds if they are not the basket type tomatoes. I could be wrong. Wait till @Perki gives you instructions please!

Hand pollinated some irises. Sadly, only Rajah, Indian Chiefs and Emma Louise to cross pollinate. I was so bored that I hand pollinate the dwarf ones with the tall bearded ones as well.

Do you mean removing side shoots on cordon variety's ? you don't remove side shoots with bush variety's. Removing the lower leaves when the plant gets bigger improves air flow and put more energy into fruiting.

That's exactly what I meant. Do you know if BigC's varieties are cordon. How can you tell if a cultivar is a cordon, bush or basket variety please, @Perki ?

Good morning and I am so pleased that it has rained. Laptop went funny yesterday and wouldn't start up. I am quite worried about the security of the laptop. Was supposed to upload these photos yesterday, but the E drive kept giving me the image of another SD card.

Oriental poppies have taken over. I still have 3 big clumps of these. One is a frilly edged ones though

Clematises were very happy at this time of this year!

Every year, I keep a cascading lobelia inside the house and it always flowers early.

It's grey now and I hope it rains some more. At one point, I wished I lived in Hull where it was covered by deep, deep blue blob of rain!

"I'm walking on sunshine (Wow!)
And don't it feel good"

Morning all..another great day here again...its great to be off work....the grass is smelling of 4 in 1 and you know I have actually come to love this smell it signifies cleanliness and rejuvenation to me, knowing that once the blackness of the weed control has subsided then we can roll out the lush green carpet once again...a few patches will need to be reseeded but thats no biggie.
Ah the old tomato plant debate.... well TBH I do what I've always done with whichever variety I decide to grow...remove the bottom leaves, pinch out the side shoots, water once every other day, feed twice a week....Interested to hear @Perki 's new choice of feed results....

We are grey here and I will be very happy if it rains. Went to Lidl and saw a red, and a yellow Datura, a plant which I tried to raise from seeds last year. They all grew, but died in winter. Saw them in Lidl £3 for 2 and I put them in the basket and after spending £20 on meat, had to remove them as i didn't really want to lug them when I do move.:cry: I must curb my I want them and I want them now disease! Went to get a lawnmower for free for ex and saw this lovely masses of Dyson's Joy. It was soooo beautiful and I also saw @Perki 's prized recommendation Caradonna. Nick Bailey talked about them in a Chelsea flower show yesterday!

No gardening today, it's raining cats and dogs.

Doing some sewing, i've got a lot of fabric left over and planning on making a patchwork skirt.
But i can't sew it together this morning, the sewing machine is heavy to lift and hubby's out.
So just disiding where the pieces are going to go.:)
