Good morning to all to another dull day. What a difference a day makes? Yesterday, it was sunny and happy. Today, it's subdued and grey!

Good morning alp, yes it's dull here as well. At least it's going to be dry tomorrow so that i can put the flee treatment on the boys, do it every 2 months just to keep it in check. That's great about your son's applemac. Wish i took some more pics yesterday, the tulips would have been open.
Spent a lot of this month again and shopping food costs me an a leg!

Oh dear, you don't want to go without food.

Morning All...Well that was short lived..no smiley face on the aerial orange globe today..In fact no orange globe at all....just the patter of raindrops on the glazed roof of a cool greenhouse to keep me company. It's a gloomy day..That's the garden furniture painting out of the equation,.. what to do instead!.. perhaps a little tidy round and a bit of weeding between the showers.. I would like to load the van up with some garden rubbish too...Oh and the "War Department" would like me to have a look at her two Dyson hoovers which believe it or not HAVE lost suction. Thanks to the eldest son who apparently used them last :)

Then slowly increased the boarders and put perennials in and annuals. A lot for the bees.

Now that brings me to my new garden inclusion of the year...Every year in the garden I try to incorporate something new a bold item and a focus of interest wither it be, a Greenhouse, a Pond, a Stone feature or even a Tree...This year maybe a little controversial...A BEEHIVE ( I thought about this last year too)....although I'm still toying with the pro's and cons and what to do if things go awry..Luckily where I work the owners father in law is high up in the Northern Ireland Bee-Keepers Association and can provide me with all manner of information...I will still buy or make a Hive nonetheless..It would have to be a traditional WBC in Cedar wood

Question would be as to which flowers should I include around the garden for the bees even if I dont include a swarm into my plan, I would still like to provide a little help to bees in general by planting some flowers.

Flowers for bees: Anything purple/blue:

Knautia, Echinacea purpurea, scabious,

  • Crocus, hyacinth, borage, calendula, and wild lilac provide enticing spring blooms in a bee garden.
  • Bees feast on bee balm, cosmos, echinacea, snapdragons foxglove, and hosta in the summer.
  • For fall, zinnias, sedum, asters, witch hazel and goldenrod are late bloomers that will tempt foragers.

Yes, sedum. They are inebriated on sedum. You know how they feel! LOL!

@BigC bees like single open flowers and trumpet flowers, like foxgloves, penstemon. They like snapdragons. I grow these and pot marigolds, cosmos, hellebores, polyanthus, crocus and lavender, which they love.

ROFPMSL hahahaha..yeah that just about sums it up...after gardening yesterday and is often my want on a Saturday Evening I like to unwind with a nice bottle of Red..normally Wolff Blass Shiraz...and last night was no different except the name of the wine changed ....
I'm thinking maybe I should aerate the lawn area today whilst the ground is still soft...what you reckon...would sure save a lot of sweat when its hard to get the prongs down in...a pic from last year

Funny ole day here on the precipice of hell, it doesn't know weither to let the sun break through or not, plenty of cloud cover and fairly warm but there's moisture in the air...I dont want to risk getting the paintbrush out just yet.
Well its been a tale of 2 hoovers and I've come outwith a 50/50 result...Both were blocked to the high gills with nasty materials including a small pencil at one point...Regular maintenance is advised to her indoors when she gets home .....clean the filters dearest :) Whilst I managed to nurse one Dyson back to full health, its bigger brother sadly didn't make it with smoke billowing from the motor compartment it smelt of burning rubber maybe a belt I dunno...it obviously didnt like a full clean...so off to the Hoover Doctor it must go in the morning to see if its vital signs can be revived....Now where was I ...as yes a garden tidy up...but first a cuppa :) and my Beta Blocker tablet...or have I taken one already hahahaha..I seriously cant remember...funny old thing agesim

But wait just a minute hahahahaha "All Hail Helios"......that's brightened the day up lol

@BigC Dyson are good, can get parts for it. My Dyson has 3 switches, hubby replaced 2 of them. The one that switches the brush bar for vaccing on carpet floors and the return switch. Can't think of the proper name for it. That one can't see on the outside. He looked on utube to see how he could do it.
I've only washed the filters once and i've had it for about 5 years.:)

Very cloudy / misty got up earlier than I wanted to feed the lawn, quick dash cause the hills looked like it was raining but just foggy/misty, rain forecast later. Just had a quick check up of plants round the back of the shed, lots shoots now. I think I'll move some plants into the GH today and pot the sweet peas up.

I forgot to say @alp I do have a cornus kousa chinese now, when I recommended it to somebody I removed a sucker from it and potted it up :)
