Drizzle / rain all day , think I'll move some plants into the GH this weekend.

So you did get a proper wedding cake tree Alp :), the cornus family are a lovely group of shrubs / trees, most are multi seasoned. You might be waiting many of years for the Satomi to flower and a while for cloud 9, but cloud 9 are known to flower when young. The cloud 9 ( north america group ) will appreciate a bit of shade in the afternoon, its a bit more fussy than the kousa ( Asia group ) I hope you not on chalk or alkaline soil either.

Forgot GW is on, will catch it later on IPlayer.

I bet they all know you at the nurseries now, you must be a very welcomed customer.:)

I am always accosted by a lovely lady called Lyn! Not in the nurseries, but diy gc! I can more or less name the price, but I make sure her job is safe!

Masterchef is a waste of time. I was very engrossed in the previous series, but I don't feel I can learn anything from watching it. It's more like I like watch chef A, or C. So I haven't bothered. Besides, there is always a very annoying commentator whose voice is that of an indeterminate sex. I don't mind if I can tell if it's male or female regardless of sex, (Ah, what am I talking about again?). It's the indetermine-ness that's bugs me!

Thank you very much for cheering me up, young man! That's my happy optimism dashed, squashed, smashed by one sentence from Perki, guys!

Ah! Now all is forgiven because of the useful info. Where did you learn all that? All I know is Cornus Kousa .. Never knew they were from various continents. You wouldn't know how stupid I was. I bought the Cloud 9 because a photo showing the petals joined together and I said to myself, now that's quaint and I wanted that and so I bought it. One has come with a flower. I sooooo hope I could prove you wrong. I have the sneaky feeling that it was the satomi. I have nothing but the slippery clay, clay and more clay which now can send me flying to far flunk places if I am not careful!

Of course, I am judging you - you are such a sucker! LOL! Why don't you use tin-foil. For further info, please seek details from @Logan !

Only Joking! I feel so happy spending money on plants, so I know exactly how you feel!

I always wanted one of the cornus flowering trees so look them up quite often, I recently recommend a C'kousa to somebody.

The flower is the centre bit, the white / pink petals are bracts ( extra leaves ), it more likely cloud 9 flowering now because Florida vareitys ( N America ) flower early than the Asian variety's and they don't have any leaves on when flowering. I hope you do prove me wrong, it be such a treat to have satomi flowering already.

Be careful you don't hurt yourself slipping otherwise they be no gardening at all for a while. You have to get some hiking boot with spikes or football boots o_O :D

@Perki To tell you the truth, I am not optimistic as they are so small, young and come as one lone stem. Will photograph them tomorrow. Son potted them up as I was busy cleaning the driveway.

We have to be on stilts. LOL! I wanted a Cornus Kousa Chinensis long time ago. Bought the seeds and can't remember if they germinated or not. I used to go for seeds, but am too careless and forgetful (as I always have a lot of seeds going on) and too mean (never willing to turn on the propagator) and hence unless they are tough as old boot like Bird of Paradise, I always end up killing them. Now we go around and pay for plants (usually reduced) and I am much happier as one or 2 years later, I always get something to enjoy, as in the case of camellia williamsii x Debbie!

Off now. Couldn't get a webpage to work. Must be the air. Good night and sleep tight, everyone and keep well!

Good Morning @Logan...and all....:)
Waiting in anticipation for some sunshine, which will probably last all day..anticipation that is...our sunray-o-meter is not meant to flicker until Thursday they tell us...thats eons away and my new fan-dangled LED Full Spectrum Lighting will have arrived by then hahahaha.. Today I may tackle some of the pathways and edge the grass in readiness for this momentous event...I have an old wooden love seat against the wall of the house which is well past it's sell by date and needs dumping really...but I would like to make templates and timber size notes of the pieces in order to make a new one down the line...purely because its a nice design and they may be a little earner..I'm thinking that's what I'll have to do...basically to have some extra money to donate to my garden year on year....Recently its cost me a small fortune for mulching, compost, soil, stone and timber and thats before I spend on plants so I perhaps need a way of generating a few hundred pounds for to go towards the annual garden sustainment fund hahahahaha

I know the feeling. But I am not half as clever as you, or as brilliant with hands which turn mundane into magic! Make sure you upload your artworks as it would be a shame to hide all your wonderful finish and workmanship.

Good morning to all

Here are some of my replacement from you know who.

Nearly £10 for these tiny 3 little plants, but they can't be bought in the diy gc. About 3 inches tall. What I love is that 2 came with buds.

This is a disappointment - no bud - Crystal Foundation

Josephine. got to see flowers hopefully

Show you the height of my 6 small plants. Anybody interested can start a conversation. The person combine postage into only £3.50

They are not big, but 6 for the price of 3 is OK

The lean-to has been cleaned, but boy, the tiles were sooooo cold that I had to quickly put new cardboard down to keep up the temperature up.

Kind words indeed @alp but anyone can do what I do, I wish I had the ingenuity and vision of all your planting schemes..I have limited knowledge of plants themselves and where to plant them and with what...so what usually happens I end up over the years with shrubbery rather than actual flowering boarders...I was wondering if any one could give me a small plan to work to that would make a nice collective scheme and compliment each other for colour/size etc...something nice and lasts a fairly long time :) bareing in mind I've over clay at about 18 inches down

Ooops! BigC baby, you've confused me with @Logan and @Upsy Daisy , I have no planting scheme to speak of. I just show one flower and that's me. The other two mother-hens have lovely planting schemes and garden designs. My garden is taken up with hellebores and irises. Your plants looked very well last year. Amazing what you can do when you put your hands to it.

Morning all
A better day forecast and the sun is out ,beeb watching the starlings pulling out the dead festuka grass in the garden and flying off to line there nests with it.The tadpoles have hatched in the pond so the deep freeze did not harm the spawn. Have a fantastic weekend all.
