I will put the astilbe in a tray with water - about half an inch. It's too cold to take anything out now.

Penstemons are a very good investment. They are pretty tough and survives winters here and flower till December. I bought a Sour Grapes. Very pleased. I will try to get some cutting from a pittosporum up the road, crying out for me to take some cuttings. It's a lovely green with white mottled effect. Very sick looking!:D
That's great,
You only need to put the Astilbe in water in the summer. It should be alright at the moment.

Morning!

Oh dear @alp that was an early start to the day:eek:

I have a lot of pink, red and white Bellis out at the moment and they certainly add colour at this time of year. They look OK from a distance :), but on a closer look their leaves have blotches on them  Had a Google and saw that they often get this fungal thing....might try @Zenj 's cinnamon tip....nothing to lose:)(y)

Another grey and damp day to look forward to..+ a mountain of ironing!!!

Have a good day , keep dry!:)

Good afternoon. Have been out the whole day. Went everywhere which was sleety and cold. I stood under a tree and tried to capture more birds. Shame the weather was not with me. I was drenched, well, a bit!

A very noisy video

That was sleet and it went on all the time until 15 minutes before we arrived home, Upsy Daisy. Told you my local area was allergic to rain. Even the sleet snubbed us. It sleeted a bit, but not serious.

I took shelter near a tree and tried to film them. Son told me to stop, saying that it was useless as I put my camcorder upside down!:eek:

That's near a lovely pond. Last time we went, we didn't have any camera.:cry: And the weather was much better.

I have quite a few salvias raised from seeds last October and they looked like dying. I dusted quite a bit of cinnamon on top of the pots and now there are new shoots emerging. Have to admit, there are quite a few doodoos!:cry:

Today was 70+f and SUNNY which is amazing since it was 9f AND SNOWING on Tuesday. I had enough time to combine my leaf piles and I got out various carts and the wheelbarrow for tire airups and a good grease job. So glad the weather broke warm.

Good morning to all: @DirtMechanic 70F??? from snowing on Tuesday. Just to show that your snow is a real freak. We're going to have a mini heat-wave as well 13c (55F). But it seems to me, not much outside work is possible. A lot of rain is predicted even in droughty Essex.

I wish I had lots of leaves and room to store them so that they can break down. All my favorite plants love leaf mould.

Alp you can put leaves in a bin bag, put some holes in it and they'll break down.
6.30am been out with Barley, the robins were singing as usual, but now there's a black bird and a song thrush. In about february or march we always have a black bird on our roof always singing.

It's warm enough to empty one of the compost bins today.

I have now only 3 bags as i can't wait that long. They are all in transparent bags. That poses another problem. Yes, I will do something once the light is with us and the sun smiles on us earlier. I can shred them with a lawnmower.

It still feels cold in the lean to.

Glad that it's warming up as I need to clear the back. All these rains and colds make things difficult. We got a board for the compost bin and need to build 3 compost bin and then tiny up the concrete area so that I can start my melon growing.

It's great to have the compost to put on the roses. Going to empty one today, but i'll put it in a bag for later, in march i'll put it on them then after i've put the rose food on.
