A nice balmy 101F out yesterday here in the high desert country of the Columbia Basin (38C for you Brits and other metic/ISO folk). I finished re-edging and grouting the counter on our thatched Jamaican patio bar. Used to be bamboo edging, but the sun over the last 8 years deteriorated it and my wife complained about getting splinters. But now it's regular wood and to be honest, it looks better. Left all the other bamboo, though. Got two LPG cylinders filled - one for the fire pit table and one for the motorhome barbecue and fire pit ready for our next trip. Fixed my brother in law's sprinkler system. Put up a new motion sensor light. Cleaned the cat litter boxes. Bought a lottery ticket - seems to be as good or better than buying a candy bar, eating it and throwing away the wrapper. Picked some mini Rapunzel tomatoes... oops, sorry that's gardening stuff... Cleaned the irrigation filters - and the neighbors' who are on vaca. Packed up and sent off the espresso machine for warranty repair and brought the one from the motorhome indoors for now. Refilled the pato fountain and birdbath. And a few other things... then sat and had a nice cold beer at the bar with my wife who had just finished mowing the lawns (she likes doing it and who am I to ruin a good thing for her?). This morning I'm binge reading Gardening Forums, catching up while I wait for my wife to get up so I can make our lattes. DK what the rest of the day has in store for me, except wake up the sourdough starter to make some bread tomorrow. Maybe I'll get to sneak in 2 beers!
Being retired is hard work - I don't know how I ever found time to go to work. But you get all those things done that you never got round to when you were working for a living. (Almost forgot to add the last 3 words!) However, on the upside if I don't want to do it today, I'll do it tomorrow and what's so special about "weekends"? Sometimes I don't even know what day of the week it is - and I don't care! Well, sounds like I gotta go and make the lattes and a little breakfast and feed the cats... and oh yeah, there's...
