I made a huge pot of Charro Frijoles this morning . Skipped the serrano peppers and used jalapeños instead. Wow, ! It's really hard to stay out of those until supper. Gonna make buttermilk cornbread from scratch to go along with that.
I had to google Charro Frijoles lol. It looks and sounds delicious! Especially with homemade corn bread.

I am finally done for the day. Making lemon haddock with spicy pasta salad for supper, some fresh chives in it from the garden and homemade cheese. I am looking forward to finding a movie to watch tonight with a bowl of popcorn.

I can recommend " Enemy At The Gate" or The Bridge with Tom Hanks.
Charro is a Mexican Cowboy. Frijoles means beans. They be spicy! :ROFLMAO: I can give you the recipe if you like spicy beans.

I am a fan of Tom Hanks movies so I'll keep those in mind.

I'd love the recipe to give it a try, I like just about everything that has hot peppers in it. Usually when I make baked beans I do pork and molasses so spicy beans would be a nice change.

Charro Beans authentic Mexican Recipe

Ingredients

16 oz uncooked pinto beans

5 slices bacon cut into smaller pieces

3 beef franks cut into cubes

1 cup ham cut into cubes

1 pound Mexican chorizo

2 tomatoes diced

1/2 bunch of cilantro chopped

1/2 onion diced

jalapeño if desired

1 more chipotle peppers depending on how spicy you want it

1 clove garlic chopped

pepper oregano, paprika, cumin, and salt to taste.

Instructions

To Cook the Pinto Beans - Stove top:
Add the rinsed beans to a large pot with plenty of water, salt, and a small piece of onion.

Let boil for about 1.5 hours, checking often to make sure that there is still enough water.

To Cook the Pinto Beans - Slow Cooker: Add the rinsed beans to a slow cooker with plenty of water, salt, and a small piece of onion.

Turn the slow cooker on to high and heat for 3 hours.

To Make The Charro Beans: Add the bacon to a large pot and cook for about 5 minutes.

Add the chorizo and continue cooking until cooked through.

After about 5 minutes, add the ham, the beef franks, and the seasonings (including the garlic).

Next, add the tomatoes, the cilantro, the onion, the jalapeno, and the chipotle pepper and cook for 5 additional minutes.

Finally, add the cooked pinto beans and the water that they were cooked in and let boil for about 15 minutes so that all of the flavors can combine.

If you want to thicken your charro beans, you can combine 2 tablespoons of corn starch with 1/4 cup of cold water and mix well before adding it to the pot.

5.Serve hot as a side dish or on its own.

Glad to share, Pepper.

Got my hair trimmed today, that was about it. Some friends are getting together later for some wings at the pub so that should be fun. End the evening with a movie after that.

I wanted to go mushroom picking this weekend but it's pouring rain. I have no dislike for rain because it is needed but I can't help but feel a bit blah on rainy days lol.

The family call my wife "the gadget queen," she has so many.
She talked me into buying this, a Ninja ice cream maker she'd seen on her shopping channel
She usually pays for stuff herself, I pay for any big items.
The "deal-breaker" was that it was £30 off normal ptrice.
She has several Ninja/Shark appliances, (half of 'em vacuum cleaners).
It arrived on Thursday.
Apparently you just fill a tub with anything, leave it in the freezer for 24 hours, then put it the machine and minutes later you've ice cream. It does smoothies and milk shakes too.

She hasn't used it yet, there's been a suggestion that like the coffee machine, I should do it.
Dunno about that.

I had a go at the ice cream maker.

"Piece of cake."

More than enough sorbet for two people.

One can of pineapple £1.20.

Put into one of the five containers supplied.
Stick it in a freezer for 24hrs

Stick the container in the jug thing, put it in the machine, press the Sorbet button.
2 mins later all done. Tasted quite good. My wife has a recipe for something more adventurous, might try that tomorrow.

Aside from indoor and outdoor gardening my other passions are cooking and cats! Lol
In my spare time I play games on PlayStation, read and go for walks ( to look at plants lol)
We live near the coast so I also love going to the beach ( to look at plants) and hiking around ( to look at plants)

What games are you playing? I'm on Xbox One, been playing Fable 3 lately. I use to love fable when it first came out but they changed it around it seems when they set it up for Xbox.. not as good but still fun. I play some sports and platform games but prefer the RPG. Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption is fun also. I use to do a lot of MMORPG but not really anymore since my gaming computer died.

Each to their own, but I've never played any sort of computer games, not even "space invaders" in pubs in my youth.

They've never interested me. I have to confess over a decade ago, a friend bought me a Tiger Woods golf video game as a Christmas present, I've never even taken it out of its box.

I find them fun to play for an hour or two here and there but I limit myself to that. They can seriously become an addiction, especially the MMO where you are playing with thousands of other people online.

I don’t really play games on the computer these days but when I was younger I played world of Warcraft.
These days I spend an hour or two after it gets dark playing games like Skyrim, fallout 4 and lately Diablo 4.
I watch movies but not regular tv.
We do have Netflix though and have been enjoying trailer park boys the series lol

Lol trailer park boys, I use to love that show. My buddy was an extra on that show a rediculous amount of times lol.

I don't watch tv either other then cooking shows like hells kitchen, whatever ones I can find free online. I mostly watch Hulu, more movies then Canadian Netflix and it's free. Other then that I rent movies online if there is one I really want to see. I like the 🧀 horror movies best anyway lol
