Still lot's of snow and it snowed again last night. I did bring my cacti out to the greenhouse and I planted marigold seed. I have never grown marigold except in hort college. I always found them to be a boring flower. But a customer bought some with the big flower heads last year and they looked great. She asked me to grow some this year and I have to say I may keep some for myself.

I did a bit, as it was quite mild, I planted out this Paradiso clematis in the tub by the front door.
It replaced one that didn't do much, it was "free" with another three years ago. I'm going to train it along the wire under the bay window.

The main one is a Mayleen, which hangs over the front door.

I gave the tea-house, a good clean and checked for any rot, but didn't find any, the finish looks a bit dull at the moment, so I may give it another coat of Dulux mahogany Woodsheen once the weather warms up. It will be thirty-one years old this summer.

It was also an opportunity to give my two jukeboxes "a good work out," they like to be used, but don't get much attention other than in the summer.

I'm still pleased with my choice of a polymer non-tear roofing felt I used when I re-did it ten years ago. It still looks as good as new.

I planted a strawberry plant in a raised planter, mixed a good bit of peat moss in the soil so it’ll be acidic like they like. I was out looking at my plants, I saw first leaves! Just tiny, barely out of the soil. I’ll have to keep it watered fairly often, as it’s a shallow container, but it Has a stand to keep the plants off the ground, away from things that may harm them.

On the days that have allowed (weather wise) in the last few weeks I've been clearing my new garden of dead, fallen branches/twigs and bracken ready for a bonfire. One more session should have the job finished I hope.

Lol, I have enough branches, twigs, and such to have about 10 bonfires. We have a huge pile of dead trees/ old branches piled up in our west field that needs burned off, may end up contacting the volunteer fire department to see if they’d like to train on that. I’ll bring a big bag of marshmallows to roast!

My plans are shot for working on the yard tomorrow. Expecting rain next two days. Otherwise I’d have my husband on the mower, hauling the trailer that goes behind it, to pick up trash, branches, then I was going to have him use it so I could dig up the many random chunks of flower bulbs all over. And maybe a few buckets of soil from down by the river, or the old compost bin area.

Otherwise I’d have my husband on the mower, hauling the trailer that goes behind it, so I can load stick/ trash, etc. then again so I can dig up all the various clusters of bulbs and get them moved. But, my cats in labor, 3 new kittens so far, and she’s stalled a bit. I’ll be up watching her. So much for sleeping!

Looks like just three. 3 hours no labor, I did my best to feel for more, but I’ll keep a close eye on her just in case. So now I can sleep myself.

Sorted out this narrow bed between the fence which goes between the corner of the house and the garage. I drastically cut back a jasmine which was taking over. So now a nice yellow rose will have a better chance this year, as will one of our new clematis. I'll plant the Koreana Amber there as it will be well protected. The wisteria in the corner grows around under the kitchen window and the main part over the fence, and round the side of the house above the kitchen door and a window.

This fence protects the most vulnerable area for semi-detached houses. With the trellis on top it's eight feet high.

Apparently it rained sometime after I fell asleep around 6, and when I woke at 10. Now it’s all sunshine. My migraine is lingering, way toned down, but still kicking me in the skull, and I just want to go work in the garden! Plus I’m trying to keep a close eye on momma kitty. I think I’ve got a bad case of spring fever! I want to garden, and make the house pretty and ohh and aww over little babies.

Maybe you're trying to do too much and that's why you got the migraine? You need some rest!

Yeah, I do that a lot. It’s like a cross between tension headache and a migraine, originating from neck and shoulder muscles , but I feel it like an icepick in my eye, or a vise on my skull. We definitely tried to do too much too fast. And the bad thing is, I still have so much more I need to do! Take apart a pallet to cut to size to finish the grow beds, get soil, set up the water source for them from the pond, get the yard cleaned up, the house cleaned up and all the extra stuff sorted and sold/ given away/ dumped.

So you went to hort college! Ah, no wonder!

I never like marigold either, but some have been hybridised to look very nice whilst the really good one which puts off white flies is called POT MARIGOLD.
