Thank you Colin for your kind words, without thinking i twisted and leaned a bit to my right, pulled my lower back. Can't bend very well without it hurting. I can't take painkillers they upset my stomach.
It will take a few weeks i think, I think that I've done it before but didn't realize what i did.

Have a good day in your workshop, i know that you've been looking forward to it.:)

Hi,

You're most welcome Logan; it's so easy to pull something but as you say it takes quite a while to fully recover; light duties and gentle exercise are now the way to go. :)

Thanks Logan; I was in the workshop for 9 o'clock and have just knocked off for a brew and bickie (cookie to our friends across the pond). I've now got a big smile on my face having finally completed one of the coach lamps that has given me nothing but hassle including a cracked rib; I was determined to complete this project whatever or however long it took. I'll now add a few notes on the thread to bring it up to date.

This thread is on the sister DIY forum where I've been hanging out.

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi,

Thank you Colin and yes light duties for a while. Glad that your rib is better.

Thanks Logan; I also hope you're on the mend this morning. :)

A decent morning here but cold and it's going to get colder. I've already done the usual three supermarket shopping and just enjoyed a brew and bickie so time now to wander into the workshop before I'm wanted elsewhere.

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi,

Thanks Colin, I'm slowly getting better thanks.
I'm just itching to do things, but it hurts when i try to bend.:)

I'm pleased you're on the mend Logan; I bet because it hurts you to bend everything you need is at ground level?

Yes the days are getting longer but I blinked and already its the middle of January; I daren't blink again otherwise the Christmas items will be on the store shelves?
It's 18 years since I retired and the years have flown by at an alarming rate; whilst working it was weeks that flew by but retirement is in warp drive; how we did all the big jobs around home whilst working is now a mystery; I struggle just to get time in the workshop these days; I'm not complaining because I like to keep busy.

I was in the workshop before 9 o'clock this morning because if I hang around I'm always in demand for other jobs not always around home but I'm on emergency call full time for neighbours? I've just knocked off for a brew but I'm dreaming of no interruptions today so I'm keeping my head down.

I wonder if our neighbours ever try thinking; 18 years ago I took lots of measurements then removed 9 steps installing a 42' long sloping pathway to the side of our bungalow making access so much easier; now three of our neighbours have copied; I extended our front decking but decided to use heavy steel and once the steelwork was erected I then welded up new steel railings; I used new scaffolding boards for the actual deck. A couple of weeks ago our neighbour at the head of the cul de sac was using a mobile crane to lift his steel work into position; I'm sure if I placed a pile of bricks on our front room carpet someone would copy? I feel flattered to be copied like this but why can't people think for themselves these days; I know here on the forum we're all thinkers and doers. I've just been looking at Gemma's gorgeous five star hotel for her four chickens. :)

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi,

Blackie's here this morning so it's wet; dark and cold.

I was determined to get into the workshop early this morning so very quietly wandered down before 9 o'clock getting wet courtesy of Blackie and I gently closed the workshop door behind me; I managed a full half hour before today's interruption kicked in; with a pair of latex gloves on my hands and painting coach lamp components a dark shadow appeared at the doors and there was a knock; your neighbours at #19 are out would you take in a parcel for them please? Off with my gloves in order to sign using a finger tip then pick up where I had left off; I'm a guy so cannot multi task; these constant interruptions ruin my concentration; how strange that Bron and I are now in for the third day expecting 25 kg of bird nuts to arrive but neighbours parcels have no problem at all reaching us.

Pity you don't live near Logan then I could find you a light job standing guard with a machine gun to repel visitors; I hope your back continues to improve but it will take time and frustrate you because you can't do what you want to do.

Blackie is my constant companion although summer last year was exceptional due to Blackie and his sister Gale taking a long holiday which is very rare indeed; below is a picture of Blackie at midday in the middle of our joke called summer two years ago as I was up scaffolding pointing with tarpaulin to protect me; whilst doing this pointing I was running my Hydrovane compressor hooked up to an air chisel sending debris in all directions when something caught my attention; I was fully wrapped up against the weather and with full safety kit on; just below me at the end of our pathway was a little girl toddler waving something at me; how dangerous was this; I put the air chisel down and came off the scaffolding; the little girl was standing on the pathway to our bungalow side just below the scaffolding but two adults a man and woman were standing by the roadside; why Jehovah Witnesses put this little girl in danger beggars belief. It never ever lets up here.

I was just going to post this when the landline phone rang; please press so and so for services; another number now blocked. GRRRRRRR.

I can't sit at the keyboard and I can't get into the workshop without hassle?

On a positive note I'm still here to moan. :)

Kind regards, Colin.

Morning Colin and thanks yes my back is slowly improving.
It would be nice to live by you with a machine gun to stop visitors from your work.

I think we have the sister of blacky here today. :)
