Hi,

Colin, I thought guns were banned.. How can you have all these shootings? Makes me feel so badly for you to have to hide out...Although I like the idea of a brew and hideout...

Thanks waretrop; yes guns are banned in the UK unless a gun licence is obtained but this is only for decent people; the ones doing the shooting and stabbing are above the law as are those driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The criminals here in the UK are looked after better than their victims; we have lots of do gooders and charities fully supporting criminals but who is supporting the victims? I've just looked at our local paper's website and for a change today so far no shooting or stabbing but the day is yet young.

I love our two days of summer waretrop when I can fully open both workshop doors without rain; sleet; snow; hail or wind troubling me everything being peaceful and Bron wandering down for a quick natter bringing along a brew and biscuit placing these on a bench; the downside of course having the workshop doors open is I'm exposed to Jehovah Witnesses; all manner of salespeople and neighbours all wanting something FROM me? If we were were stinking rich I think a good plan would be to buy all the houses/bungalows on this small private estate and bulldoze the lot just leaving our beautiful bungalow standing then have built a very high security fence all around to keep everyone out to give is a bit of well deserved peace. I can dream on though?

My day would start poorer Logan without your good morning wishes; I for one would like to say you're appreciated and to say a big thank you. xx.

Perishing here today with frost but nice and cosy after an hour in the workshop with the fan heater switched on; yesterday turned into a beautiful sunny but cold day and today is forecast light cloud and moderate breeze; living here on the valley side forecasting a breeze is a total waste of time because the breeze is just about permanent.

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi,

You're very welcome Logan. :)

It's a big day today it being Bron's birthday so I'm spoiling her rotten. This morning we quietly slipped away at 8:15 under the radar before someone had a panic for us to sort out; M&S Pudsey was the destination and it took an hour to reach the store; we've just returned home and after dinner we're out again this time to The Range in Barnsley where Bron likes their craft section. Bron can have absolutely anything she wants today and I'm her personal driver; I might have mentioned I love my Bron to bits. :):):)

It was 4C when we set off but now risen to 6.5C; I feel warm and comfortable ; it's strange how some days warmer than this makes me feel very cold?

The daffodils and crocus are now showing a lot of interest and many of the plants/shrubs I planted last year appear to be settling in nicely; lots of the plants died but at least I now know to be more selective; I'm concentrating on lots of ground cover; taller plants suffer from the high winds which are common here on the valley side.

My workshop is out of bounds to me today but perhaps tomorrow I might get into the workshop?

Kind regards, Colin.

Hi,

It's very thoughtful of you to ask Logan; yes Bron had a good day yesterday. :):):) I try to make every day special for Bron as she does for me too.

For many years living here we've been subjected to my personal black cloud called Blackie who has been most helpful in keeping me and everything outside well watered and also his sister Gale not only putting up a prevailing breeze but also many times trying to remove our bungalow from the valley side this when it hasn't been hailing; sleeting or snowing. For Christmas 2017 Bron generously bought me a new Hyundai rotavator (tiller) when I first tried the rotavator out it just bogged down in the sodden compacted soil; I had dug over with a spade first because I wanted to replace most of the grass with plants/bushes. Eventually I managed to rotavate and it was a terrible job due to roots; grass sods and other debris but by the time I had rotavated five times the soil was wonderful. I then opened an account with two online nurseries and we spent a lot of money on plants/shrubs; last year was extremely rare because Blackie and Gale took a very long holiday leaving our garden in drought condition; I tried using two watering cans but this just didn't work; by the time I reached the top pf the steeply sloping garden I felt all in; next was to use a long hose but all this did was to create lots of streams as the water headed to the valley bottom in the end I gave up. Lots of the plants and shrubs died; out of 50 Gladioli about ten actually grew but Gail got rid of these; all the Lupins disappeared as did the Hydrangeas; ten Hostas died plus lots more but many of the ground cover survived so now I know what to buy this year. The squirrels enjoy digging up the newly planted bulbs. As expected the freshly rotavated soil attracted no end of weeds and local cats; how come weeds grow without any input from me but after spending lots of money on plants and caring for the plants these fall over? Such is life. I've now exchanged cutting grass on the steep slope to weeding; 6" thick concrete is appealing but even this would head to the valley bottom; oh um.

6C here this morning; I've already done the supermarket shopping and was back home by 7:30; the car looks like its spent a year in a wet quarry so needs washing but I still dream of ever getting a full day in the workshop; up at 6 o'clock this morning and not enough hours in a day; good job I'm retired.

Kind regards, Colin.

The weeds grow easily because they're in their natural habitat. Most of all the plants that we buy are from other countries. Also when they're planted, they're at their most vunarable. But because it's always windy where you are it's best to grow shorter plants. I'm very lazy when it comes to supporting them so don't grow them. Also i try to buy plants that don't get eaten by SS. :)

Hi,

Oh dear Logan; I hope your back pain is short lived allowing you to get into the garden; good luck and best wishes. :)

https://www.123greetings.com/general/getwell/i_hope_you_get_well_soon.html

It's still very dark here but I saw a black missile fly down our rear garden more of a shadow really; sure enough it was Soots a neighbours cat here for early morning bickies; a bit of fussing and a saucer of bickies and one happy moggy. :D

Whoopee; workshop today.

Kind regards, Colin.
