Colin, Bron made that card? What talent! And what a lovely thing to do.
I do have deepest sympathy for those fighting the bitter cold and snow. After 25 years in upstate New York with Alberta Clippers and lake effect storms, I can understand your pain!

Hi,

WOW, looking at the picture I wonder how many fridges are sold in Russia? :(

Thanks marlingardener; yes Bron made the card it being her hobby and she can spend up to four hours creating a single card; card making is a lovely hobby for Bron because she can do it in comfort the year round unlike gardening where there's no comfort whatsoever; at least not here in Huddersfield; today we've had blizzard; snow; rain; hail; wind; sunshine and it's now the usual black hole; this morning I found myself on my back due to sheet ice; still I can dream of using my new rotavator. :)

Kind regards, Colin.

We hit 40°F today so I went hiking. This is an unused farm field that, to my surprise and excitement, may be converted to prairie habitat. I know there was plans in the works but have not yet heard if it's official and scheduled. Maybe 2018 will be the year. I'd love to have another prairie to hike through. Right now it's filled with all kinds of aggressive and invasive plants that grew in after the land stopped being farmed. It lies right along the edge of a woodland, which means the two habitats combined will be great for local wildlife.

@roadrunner That's an informative excerpt. So sad the in 2018 people are still frozen to death.

We have a few days of funereal weather

Charming weather! Well, at least, it's not cold.

Winter wonderland! SIX MILE traffic jams clog the roads as skiers flock to the hills of Scotland after the most snow fall in EIGHT YEARS - and there is more on the way in England too
  • A yellow warning remains in place across the midlands, northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland
  • It follows up to a foot of snow falling yesterday, with temperatures expected to sink as low as -11C last night
  • More snow is expected today, adding up to 6in to the 14in already blanketing parts of the Scottish highlands

Just done the tumble drying - bet the plants there must think summer is coming! Alas, no!

The only reason I love living in Essex is because of the warm weather.
