Last night my husband braved the cold to take a photo of the "super moon". I decided to stay inside and look at his photos!
It's 26 degrees now at 8 a.m. and overcast, which always makes it seem colder.
Silent, I'm a pushover for anything with feathers, fur, or feet so we turn on the heat lamps (one per coop) for the hens. They seem to be happy since they are laying eggs during this cold snap.

Why go to all the palaver of adding this kind of forecast for us when a simple "Blackie & Gale are permanent".

Hahaha! You should send your comment to the met office.

Apparently, Thames has already broken its' banks! Ooops! As we had the wolf moon last night, it's quite likely that the convergence of lunar pull, low pressures can wreak havocs all round.

Very cloudy today and it rained on and off. Went to shopping areas in Lakeside

The prices are so unreal and it was just a day out after New year for son and me.

We have got Colin's Gale as well and MORE! I was woken up 2 or 3 times. It was like heavens were throwing rocks at my house.. must be sleet balls or marbles as the noises were truly frightening and impactful. I have never had such experiences in this country. I have seen terrible winds and was nearly blown off course on the road:eek::LOL:. Trust me, I am not slim.. But last night was impressive and I won't forget it in a hurry.

Temperature 7 to 10c and it's brightish!

Everybody:

KEEP SAFE AND KEEP WARM,
especially your plants and pets..!!!

Hi,

Morning all, light cloud, got @Colin 's gale
Temp. 6-8c.
Sunrise 8.17 sunset 16.07

I'm sorry Gale got out last night Logan; I'm surprised though she had strength left to pester you after the night we've suffered here. All night long and as I type our bungalow has been buffeted by Gale and with lots of noise as she blasted our side of the valley. I popped out at 8 o'clock to see if the roof was in the garden or trees down but I think everything's OK but it was still dark so I'll have another wander around. Normally roofers clip and nail every third or fourth row of roofing tiles; when I put the roof on I clipped and nailed every tile and wired the ridge tiles securely so Gale can get lost. It's the usual black hole and of course Gale's brother Blackie remains with us.

Yorkshire and Humber
Forecast Summary
  • Today
Perhaps some transient hill snow in the north over the Pennines at first, though largely turning back to rain by dawn. Squally showers are also expected, heaviest in the west, with some sunny spells breaking through in the east.

  • Tonight
Winds will gradually ease through the evening, and showers will become more isolated, staying dry for most after midnight. Turning chilly, though cloud increasing from the west by dawn.
Pennines mentioned as usual and yes we are west so more horizontal rain expected courtesy of Gale & Blackie. If we lived in the east then the sunny spells would be in the west. GRRRRRRRR. Staying dry for most after midnight should read except for Colin.

Just spotted your post alp; sorry to you too; just for fun you would enjoy a day and a night here on the exposed valley; I can highly recommend it. (NOT).

Here's my theme song and it couldn't be more perfect.

Kind regards, Colin.

I have had my share of fright:eek::eek::cry:, @Colin . Thank you. I reckon 1987 storm was something, but I lived in a block of flats at that time and had no idea of how horrible it was! This one lashed my house with sleet balls.
