Ah, sorry! That explains why we have been there so many times. Love Stratford upon Avon ... Been there three times at least. Whenever we went to Charlecote Park, we were in a mad rush to go to somewhere else. It's so unhealthy .. as the rush made us miss quite a lot of stuff. I really like it there, but NT properties usually open at 11am, to be able to visit 2 places a day took some ingenuity. That's why I like Coventry as NT properties there are quite near to one another.. which is truly remarkable. I remember driving an hour to see another NT place and there are always narrow and windy lane to negotiate .. with enormous potholes AND no passing places.. Grrrrrrrr....

From a sun looking like a great big orange in the sky early this morning, to powerful Ophelia inspired winds to a brilliantly warm and sunny day it was, to say the least, different.
With a cuppa at lunchtime in the (walled) garden it was so warm despite the wind howling overhead but the dahlias, salvias, cannas, verbenas, grasses, etc. were being blown almost to the ground but didnt break......they have remained intact now it's all calmed down. :)
Picked up a couple of daphne Perfume Princess in 3 litre pots today and delighted with price I managed to get them for. For me the strongest scented of all the daphnes. One for me and one for my niece's new build garden(y)

How about one for me, @Verdun ?

Glad that you're OK. We had no wind at all in the morning. It was so still. Just a spit in the air and all bleak. Came 3pm, all overcast and the lights cried out to be being turned on. Son wondered why the sun was so orange .. Wind picked up a bit, but nothing compared with the storms in winter .. Watched Ambulance on iplayer just now and Doris was much more awful in Mainland Britain.

This morning, there was a persistent knock at the door. I lifted up the lace curtain and saw this woman pushing a buggy walking out of my front path. I normally don't open the door to talk to stranger. But this was a young mother.

She asked me if I remembered her. She told me that I gave her some plants free as I was digging them up to chuck. I didn't really. But knowing my generosity, I said yes. It was possible but couldn't pin her face in my memory. She then told me she loved my purple osteospermum. I knew I had some double osteospermum at the back, so I brought it out for her to look at. I said I would charge £1 for it. She then said she wanted the purple one, so I took out a hand fork and later asked her to dig what she wanted. I encouraged her to take two more with rotts (very long ones), thinking that it would be so nice to have someone sharing my appreciation. She handed over £1. Then she said to me she liked the white one in a 11cm pot. I asked her for £1.. She said she had no more money. She must have thought that I would give it to her..

I knew the trick so well.... Now I remember @Verdun got £15 for his osteospermum.. :eek:

Good morning: I know. When I lived in London, I even saw dust on cars in busy London Streets. Any way, the heat wave is no more. 19c indoors with Ebac on.

Yesterday while planting some more irises out, I saw another nerine bud. I was thrilled only to find the stem has been nibbled by some slugs or snails. So I don't know if I can see it flower at all. This one is a bit whiter. Sunday, saw this lovely house with lines of nerines in full glory. One along the house, one along the path. Such a good show. This house owner must be a very green fingered person like @Verdun .. The house was fronted by tall and handsome Delphinium Dark Knight .. Oh, boy, I wish son would find a space to park so that I could take photos.. Amazing ..

@alp it looks amazing:)
Got to make some jam tarts and a mince tart.
Might do some more clearing of the blackberries. Did 1 yesterday before it started to get too windy. It did dry the grass so hubby could cut it.:)

Morning everyone :)
All quiet after Ophelia's uninvited visit
Logan, computer speak is fascinating; love gadgets and technology but my knowledge is limited. AI though will be our masters one day and not our servants:(

Don't you worry. When they go wrong, we human beings have to be there or they will squeak like a broken record. Self-service tills are a true testament that we are still needed.
