It sure gets hot and its pretty much contained...I didn't want electric to the greenhouse and I had my fill of Paraffin type heaters, I thought I'd give this a go...the problem lies in the tea light candles not burning for long enough (4 hrs max) but as I say I'm making a 100 hour DIY candle/s so we shall see how that pans out.....sustained heat.....and yes I'm renowned for madcap ideas....Hahahaha.....let you know how this goes.....@BigC Love your artwork! Make sure it is not going to catch fire. Is it enough to warm up the greenhouse? You're so hilarious! Haha!
They get quite warn..they will warm the greenhouse... well at least enough to stave off a chill....I made a smaller one last year (being the curious type) with no issues with the pots, so that said I cannot foresee any problems wth these larger ones...The main problem was sustaining the heat which I hope to overcome with the 100 hr candle...The outcome of which remains to be seen...check back soon to see the (even more hilarious) pictorial methodology on the making of this long burning candle (poor mans version) for very little outlay (should be right up your street @alp) hahahahahaSo do you have to make sure the pots are of a special quality that won't crack under the heat or sudden drops in temperature? I must say it is a brilliant and economical way to keep your plants from frozen..
yeah tealights are fine if your only looking a room warmer for a few hours...and the heater works well for this...but I need something that will burn longer... cheaply....I think I've found the solution so will test and upload the picsCrikey .. didn't know you knew me so well! Hahaha! I will you if I can light a candle to warm my lean-to, I would LOVE to find out how! I can easily go to a bootsale to get tons of tealights for next to nothing.!
