Flipin heck loving those borders people..I am going to have to ask for some schemes to get one like those depicted by you good folks today...they are a credit to your management skills....I always wanted a wildflower border and even went so far as to buy and sow the mixed seeds but nothing ever came of it, for what reason I dont know...
Anyway seeing as we've mentioned Bees..I was trawling around a few Hives myself today...I was amazed at how close I was able to get...I was working at my boss'es house today and it just so happens her son is married to the daughter of an NI Beekeeping Assoc..Committee member.... 2 and 2 make 4 if you know what I mean..;).His hives are more for honey production and not aesthetics... rather unlike me I would want a traditional looking Hive....There was hardly any noise either which surprised me as I was thinking there would be a loud droning sound..but nothing of the sort...So it could well be my next project :)....One thing I noticed the words busy as a bee sure have powerful meaning..these little critters never stop.

Hive watching.

A more traditional looking Bee Hive that I would go for if I intended to proceed :)

@BigC thanks. You have to go on a bee keepers course and join the bee keepers association.:)
yeah I know @Logan...the Assoc does run courses throughout the year and assign you a mentor all for around £100...they seem a friendly bunch and there would be no end of knowledge at my disposal...I dunno if I would be prepared to stick at it full time with all the equipment...Simply put...I dont think I would have the time at the moment to devote to their husbandry and well being....I need to see and take stock....I will build the hive for sure though...then we'll take it from there....I'll hunt down some woodworking plans in the meantime :)

I really love this thread now.. @Verdun No doubt, your clusters are very big and bold and striking.

What is the name of the hydrangea again? I saw one similar in Hyde Hall. Those heleniums are just smashing .. I have one clump too and one from poundshop is showing its first flowers.. As you said, so excited to see first flowers ..

Thank you for all the félicitations .. Just came back from having another Nandos meal .. Too hot for him. A very big meal and will go to Prezzo on Saturday for another meal .. Isn't he lucky? When I had my birthdays, we had nothing. 7 of us and only the eldest son had some form of celebrations on his birthday.. My dad had to call out 5 names to get the correct name .. I also had a full handful of blueberries from my Patriot. Still a bit to pick. Two days ago, I had a lovely marrow. 3 times the size of a courgette!

@BigC It would be silly not to take up the challenge, especially when you can make some money out of it. The last hive looks so much more prettier!

I have had not a drop of rain ... So unfair.

Good morning to a very grey Essex. Hopefully, it will rain a bit today. I hope my astrantia will live .. At the moment I don't hold out much hope.

No, I have lost quite a few. I opened every single box in the shop and if they have roots, I would buy. If there was only dust (most of them were), I chucked them for the staff into another basket. In the end, the most helpful ones are the agapanthus. But some have succumbed to worms.. Next year, I will buy them new as the achilleas were gorgeous and they worked out 70p as there were usually 3 in a pack..

Some lavender seeds for @Logan to see - just turn the seed heads upside down and you will have tons of seeds

A perfect clematis

My first Gaillardia Red Arizona .. All those seeds I have bought have yielded nothing. £1 at poundshop and voila - I have waited for this for 4 years ..

I might not beat @Logan or @Verdun in variety, but weight wise, I am a heavy weight -- I have numerous of these 5 in all

A rudbeckia? from J Parkers earlier this year.

Last but not least - I have to sing in praise for this little compact nicotiana - so prolific and compact .. a real joy to have

And I can collect seeds for next year. What's not to love?
