Morning everyone :)
Lovely pics alp......my latest agapanthus is A. Golden Drop. Evergreen, dwarf and lots of pale blue flowers.
Made a waterfall for a family member but never for me......I need to contrive something but the ground is too flat here. Have fun BigC with your tweaking (y)

Beautiful pictures Alp, glad I checked in to see your visit. Did you end up buying anymore echinaceas? That picture is breath taking! I got my hands on a sombrero orange the other day. ;)

Thank you all for the kind words. @Mark56 Now I'm a huge fan of echinaceas and achillleas. Went to B&Q and bought quite a few white swan at 50p each.. Too near as some died. But one has already got a bud! I want to have an orange one, but the price of £8 scared me stiff. For achilleas, I have paprika, tricolour and 2 others, apart from cerise queen (£1 from poundshop) My heart sank in the poundshop when there were no flowers or them all dead. I think my £1 rudbeckia or helenium is flowering now. So thrilled. Helenium seems to be all the rage. I also bought a Duchess of Albany on seeing them in @Upsy Daisy 's pic in a NT properties and also a Sieboldii. I tell you - one weak stem for £3.50 .. enough to make me cry! There is another clematis store but there were so few plants. I nearly wanted to tell the lady to jam-pack her van next time she came to the sales.

I wonder what difference there is between satsuma and Sombrero.

Picaso would be proud of this painted dahlia

I never really like Bishop and I never wanted to buy them. But to stretch the postage a bit, I chucked it in and now I think they are so nice.

My most beautiful collarette - I bought 2 more trays and some were denuded by slugs and the other one is a non-starter. This one is already in the ground and pops its head to greet me behind some taller plants.

Ok..I think I've rode this obsession a little too much of late and its time to put the whole thing to bed...Here are a few images of what I accomplished today..What did I envisage this project to turn out like?...Did I achieve that goal?...well the answer is pretty much Yes..without overspending. I think it will suffice and equally it fits in well with the rest of the garden....Its tranquil and at the same time quite peaceful with the sound of running water (return from the homemade filtration unit, yes that was another project:) ) For by maybe changing a few plant pots I think I'm pretty much done.....see what you think..............

Brilliant! The red acer suits the tableau so well, but I would prefer a crane more than a kingfisher. Crane plays an important part in Japanese psyche .. But still a kingfisher adds more colour to the garden. Very nice. You've a bamboo for waterfall? I think I saw it before. Are you getting another water feature .. Water out of a bamboo is so unique in Japanese garden.

You certainly deserve that wine..

Hahaha Yes quite right @alp on the Crane in an Avian sense...but Cranes are quite large, its a small diorama (pond etc) so it maybe wasn't going to suit the bill quite as readily and also from the colour perspective...The focus was to be on the Pergola as a frame for the stone statue....anything other than planting might have detracted from that vision. hence the smaller bird species....but well spotted non the less.......I may forgo the waterfall for now but its still on the cards(maybe next season when I'm stuck for another project :) )...problem being its quite a small area and I dont want to kill the mood if it becomes too busy, If you know what I mean.....

Quite true. Don't know how big your garden is, but that area is gem-packed .. loads of goodies already. Don't really like that water feature. Bamboo sprout is a much better idea. Less is more as that area is already like genius working overtime..
