You could layer the vine. They take very easily here in Essex, @BigC If you could send us a pic, I might be able to email some vineyard to ask for advice. I understand there are quite a few in Sussex.

Yeah, finally proper rain. Lovely... I feel so much richer .. haha!

Good morning: Still one or two butts empty. Can't complain. At least, heavens have opened. Overcast and only a tiny bit of drizzle.

@alp morning.I put all my wallflower seedlings in the garage close to the glass door, so they wouldn't get damaged from the heavy rain, It was a bit of light rain, I haven't checked the water butts, they won't be full.

Morning all...

Thanks alp, I will do when I get home from work.

Lovely lovely rain doing the grass the world of good all is lush.....so glad I got the mower to it last night.
Those water butts wont be long in filling up Logan.....speaking from experience I collect rainwater and filter through peat to breed Tropical Fish as I can get the pH really low and acidic...5.5 and below.
and my collection butts are fed from the guttering on the greenhouse roof. always have loads of water...Well it is Ireland :)

Here is a wee climbing rose "Galway Bay" which decided to open earlier on in the week....I really like the colour..it never did much in previous years but I moved it to grow over the greenhouse edge and its really come on...Needs a bigger pot though but I dont wish to disturb it just yet...Have a great day folks....

What are water buts? I am assuming rainfall containers?
Fish water is great for plants! I have a drain hose that I attach to my waterfall filter and use it to water plants when I clean out my filters. All that rich fish poop in the water makes my plants happy.

@tbendl Water butts are just expensive plastic tub with a tab at the bottom and have to sit on expensive stands. Fish water is full of nutrients and I am sure your plants enjoy it.

I weeded the front bit of my garden and pulled out quite a few alstroemerias. The soil was so compact and dry.. I felt sorry for my plants. Some foreigners (4 of them) asked me, separately, if I wanted to have my front jet cleaned. I just could not get rid of them. In the end, I said I was only a lodger.. so fed up with these people. I said no, and he said he would give me a discount. I said I didn't want to waste his card as it would go straight to the bin, he just would not take no for an answer. In the end, I left it on the ground. You can even weed your garden in peace.

Wow people can be super rude and pushy. I'm sorry you can't weed in peace.
When they do that here I just go let the dog out. He doesn't bite but he sure does look like he wants to. That usually sends them packing.

@BigC Love your immaculate garden and that lovely wee rose.. Don't think rain is a problem for you. Apparently, fish water is very good for plants. @johnny canoe has said so.
Hahaha the plants would drown in the fish water the way I do waterchanges lol.
