@tbendl I so want some of your rain. Although rain was predicted at 11am and it didn't rain until nearly 5pm and it has been drizzle, the ground is now wet,but not torrential, which is what I need here. So disappointed.

@tbendl just go around to look for reduced stuff. That's how I got my plants.

I just need more space to plant them! Lol
I'm going to try and find a "go see alp and rain" dance instead of the traditional "rain dance". :ROFLMAO::D:p

No, I would love to see you dance.. Perhaps a little video. I have great expectation for tonight's rain. If it does not materialise, there won't be any rain in sight for the next 10 years, apart from a bit on Friday.

@BigC ,I always use to harvest petunia seeds......wait until the seed pod turns brown and you can see it opening, keep a close check as you might miss this. I heard of people wrapping a bag around a pod to ensure a collection!
I had some lovely striped petunias, but sadly ,as with all the others , they didn't come true from the harvested seeds. Infact one year the whole lot look very pale and wishy washy in colour.......so I have given up collecting the seeds now.
Hope you will have better luck!(y)
@BigC....I've had great success with using good old hot water bottles under seed trays!
How is your grapevine doing..apart from the rust you mentioned?
Looks like it will be a good year for grapes , both of ours have absolutely loads of bunches this year!......yum!
LOL where do I start...must keep an eye on those Petunia seed pods and I did hear of the paper bag method, which I might use as I'm pretty inept at collecting seed lol
The vine is OK but reading the nature of Rust, it will be holding the growth back for sure and its shedding leaves..I going to buy some fungicide namely
Bayer Fungus Fighter Plus Pest Control - 800ml
which claims to work.....
Hot water bottle seem to be a good Idea especially if contained in a polystyrene tray or 120hr heatpacks maybe which would be more use under the same circs....but are expensive so may just go with the heated propagator hahaha...decisioins decisions.
My main concern is the Grapevine and getting it back to full health...

Thanks alp...me too....nothing would please me better... it developed this all of a sudden and I dunno why conditions must have been ripe for it to flourish, hopefully I can rectify the situation...It was an impulse buy at the garden centre one week and I thought I'd give it a go..Everything was prepared from the soil to kitting out the greenhouse with galvanized wire on which to train the thing, research into growing methods kept me up to all hours and its a crying shame to see it in this condition...its not overly bad to be honest but its there and it needs addressing....
Hope yours produce fruit at some stage...what way are you growing them

Mine had a bunch in the first year, but it's too dry for them to produce any fruit. Google grapevine + rust and grapevine to fruit UK and see what you can see. Also, have a look at youtube. Some videos are very informative.

When I was out walking, I saw one with bunches of grapes hanging around. It was truly a lovely sight.

I would be a bit wary of using a fungicide if you hope to eat the fruit...that Bayer one i think is for ornamental plants and roses.

We grow ours outside, trained along a fence. Last year was the first fruit bearing one as the vines were only tiddlers when we bought them, but they both produced a few small bunches of fruit, We cut them back quite hard in late autumn and this year they are overloaded with fruit, we have thinned them out and removed some leaves to allow for more sunlight to ripen the grapes, We do give them plenty of water too. but apart from that they don't require anything else.......they just do there own thing, Touch wood so far we haven't had any pest/ fungus problems.
Hope you manage to sort yours out @BigC (y)

All I can do is see how things turn out.:) it will either like it in there or not...I dint fancy the idea of planting the root stalk outside and training it to come inside....so we'll see how this progresses.. I'm not taking any fruit this year at all IF that happens, prefering instead to concentrate on growth and training...I'm removing any suckers and other inhibiting upward growth sapping leaves
