I have been emptying the pots today for summer plants , a rather boring job so come in after I was done and watched the football and tennis . Planted most of them up this evening mostly dahlias this year I've more a less lost all my cannas bar one tiny little piece which will have to be grown on this year if it survives . I did plant 2 pots up with brugmansia for either side of the GH door entry. It was supposed to be blazing sun today it been hazy and a bit humid the vast majority of the day.

Some pictures of the garden this week

I had a most painful night - itchy in all my two legs where the mozzies had attacked. It was 3 hours' of scratching. Even now, they itch like hell.

Now the dishwasher is playing up. Check water! Oh, dear!

Very nice to see so many different flowers from all over the country and the US. Thank you, DrCase. Now I know what Thalia is. Very unusual colours.Flower reminds me of gladiolus.

Rhodos and azaleas are very impressive as the bushes are usually big and massive. I remember walking around Valentine's Park, it was so beautiful and the air was filled with perfume. I reckon you missed some of your beautiful blooms in Newcastle, Zenj!

Blackbird Penstemon is the 2nd or first to flower, together with Sour Grapes, M Fisher!

Finally, I planted my £15 spiral thuja down in the ground. Also, almost all of my wisterias are down in the ground. Only one with flowers and even that was with only about 3 clumps of blooms.

Funny enough, the heat made the red pepper seeds sprout. Now I need to spray myself before I go out to water. Yesterday, saw a pair of Goldfinches feeding. They are even more difficult to spot than tits as they take flight very quickly. That made me buy some more Niger seeds!

Perki: You have beautiful clusters of plants and they suddenly sprang to life, by the look of it. I have now Royal Wedding white oriental poppy and pink Victoria Louise poppy

Can't believe Djo came back to win the game!

Sympathy over the mozzies, Alp. During the day they hang under things, worth squirting a bit of insecticide under the bed and bedside table. A bit of Jeys fluid in the water butts helps as well, if you can still get it.
That 'Blackbird' penstemon is a winner!

Insecticide under bed? Whoa! Little emperor did mop and clean the bed and carpet yesterday morning. It was traumatic. Every summer, the same sad saga! Mozzies mauled me and I would have 1 year or more to scratch. Last night, an hour of deep scratches and I was surprised that I didn't draw blood. First the bites, then the hot raised lumpy afflicted areas and 2 days later, the adjacent areas need to be scratched as well, as if the even the blood flow. What torments! I feel so much better now.

I wish I could spray my neighbour's big pond and a side pond for the froggies. I didn't know they had a side pond which was supposed to be for wildlife until the renter invited me in to have a look. These frogs have only one thing in mind - posterity. I have never seen any decrease in the number of slugs or snails. All I have seen are they were in my buckets of water or they are on top of each other!

A lot of lovely Sibirica irises, Zenj. I just love your trollius.

Forgot to say yesterday that I found 2 empty Costa iced coffee plastic cups (big ones) inside one of my planters. Apparently, a couple of imbeciles came into my front garden, had a look around and deliberately left their calling cards. After that, (especially the loss of 2 standard roses and David Austin Olivia, I closed the gap so that people couldn't just swan inside. Very annoying. I did have another theft 2 or 3 years ago.

A lot of repeats here as I want to compare the 2 cameras:

Dyson's Joy. My joy was when I saw Salmon Dance flowering! Only very few blooms. I hope it's going to pour down for a few days. No, I mean - POUR DOWN BUCKETS!

What a beauty! The stripes, the blue and the photographer just work seamlessly!

Ah me, apart from no meconopsis, I'm totally covered in perspiration and the shock that some plants are bone fried! I wouldn't want to live in Australia .. Imagine the heat!

No good mopping the floor, they hang upside down under things. Catch a couple of minnows/sticklebacks and introduce them to the pond, they will soon get rid of the larvae and your neighbour will probably never see them. :)

I thought there would be flood. Er, no! Only one butt is full! I lament the boat which has already gone to North Sea!

The day before I spent 2 and a half hours in the allotment and came home to no eggs or shells. For the past 3 days, I had an egg or 2 every day. Yesterday, I saw an egg cracked open and a hen drinking from it. Can't blame them. They are constantly hungry and fussy.

This Martagon Lily cost me £7! Then 3 weeks ago, I went to Alpha Man in Billericay and he sold one pot with buds for £2.49! Boy! Imagine my joy! I grabbed 2 and one was Claude Shride and the other is still meditating, probably to keep its zen in this maddening heat!

Terrace City - very small.
