Went for a walk in the park and will upload some photos of the park tomorrow. Chased after a what I thought was glebe. Shame it wasn't. I hope to see the ducklings again, just as last year. Off to watch TV now. Birds are so elusive in this country. I bought some mealworms as I have found out that they are the most popular food. The cheapest I could buy was 100g for £1 and it turned out that Home Bargains were really selling bargains. 1kg of sunflower hearts for £1.69. I will stick to Home bargain for my birdie treats. @Zenji please give me a shout if Wilko is doing mealworms cheap! Thank you in advance. I have now quite a few tits and goldfinches visiting my garden. Need to restrain myself as the sooner I top up the feeders, the quicker they empty them. But with this cold coming, I don't mind. Just need to go up to the shop to scavenge for food.

@alp Wilco’s £5 large bag meal worms
  • r nutritious

  • High energy

  • Fills up to 6 standard feeders
Most garden birds can’t think of anything tastier than this high-energy delicacy!

Ideally, serve our 500g wildly tasty dried mealworm on the ground, from a table or in a feeder. Why not try attaching a tray to your feeder? You’ll find the birds linger for longer with somewhere to perch!

This big bag of mealworm fills up to 6 standard feeders.

@alp yes you'll have friends for life if give them mealworms. I used to put a tray on my seed feeders, the pigeons found them and ate all the seed. But it's good for the robins, i got one who's learnt how to get on the feeders.

Thank you, Logan!

Glad that I took photos yesterday as it was one of the loveliest days so far. Can't wait for the clock to go forward so that I can shred the leaves.

Nice to have a bit of rain, but the cold, not so keen. Up the road, the garden centre man told me they had tons in and yet the cold snap killed most of them and now they have another ton in.

Saw another swan trying to eat the suet pellets but they were too far away. Asked son to use his feet to move the pellets and after that, two came to feed. Such a lovely park. The biggest stretch of water near me!

Morning!

Started off quite grey and damp but I do believe it's trying to brighten up a bit now (y)

Hopefully I will be able to continue preparing the borders for planting out in a couple of months time ( she says optimistically)
Divided up clumps of snow drops yesterday and rehomed them.
Checked in my lavender cuttings , they are all doing well . Now need to find a home for them. I took the cuttings because I thought we would need to dig up and ditch the larger ones , but once they had their early Autumn haircut they actually looked OK. Hence me now having to suss out were to put the cuttings.:)

Have a good day!:)

When the clocks go forward that's when it gets colder.

Yes GC can lose money over the bedding plants because of the weather.

My dad told me, have to be careful with swans and don't make them angry, he said they can break a persons arm.

If you go to Worcester go along with river by the cathedral, used to be a lot of swans there. It's a very nice walk.

At school we went into the cathedral and was shown a big book, the cover of the book was made out of human skin. It was at the time of one of the wars. Some people tried to escape on the river and the monks caught them and skinned them. Don't know if they were still alive, but i guess in those days they were.
