Morning all a dull day high of 11c but forecast says up to 18c Monday Tuesday Wednesday so not all gloom have a great weekend all.

Yes, I had a look at the temperature and decided to risk my £1.99 big box of After Cut, even though the instruction suggests applying from Feb to September. Yesterday I was sweating as if I were in 24c. Very hot and bothered.

Will go out today regardless of the rain.

Anyone ID this for me please?

Weather report

BBC 1 : Met Office 0

Raining now - more like drizzle

Took 3 more pots of cuttings Apricoty rose, from the other neighbour. Hope they will take. I have already kept the first two dahlia for more than 2 years. I actually raised the first one from seeds.

It's so cold that I nearly wanted to turn on the radiators. Going to have a shower and snuggle myself to a duvet and a warm cup of tea. That's how I am going to spend my evening.

Evening wet this morning but sunny / cold this afternoon, its getting really cold outside now. Just come back in from picking dahlia flowers not sure if they be frosted tomorrow or not , I was going to leave them for the frost to get them but moved the movable pots inside the GH for the evening, I am not ready for the dalhia to go yet . I got loads of buds on the roses, second flush seems to be quite late this year no doubt due to the topsy turvy weather this year.

It not the cold whats the main problem for leaving dahlia's in the ground, it being wet and cold which causes them to rot that kills the tuber.

Exactly, @Perki Cold and wet and the rot which turn the dahlia tubers mushy. We have had a wet day. Only drizzle at the beginning and the rain stopped at about 7pm. Very happy as I actually spread my After Cut on the ground. Apparently, there is a storm brewing up in Bermuda and this will draw up some warm air and we will be in for a warm spell soon. The flowers must know as I have more buds than I realised. Asters have come in their own but tons of dahlias are still teasing me with their potential first flowers of the year! What a torment!:LOL:

Very good day here. Not a penny spent though I am after some Giant Himalayan Lilies - the one that made the grown man in Wales cry when it flowered. And Nomocharis is out of stock. I also saw tons of very different erythroniums on the website recommended by @Zenj , but alas the online season is over for them.:cry::cry:!

I've not seen GW yet but I assume your talking about a Cardiocrinum giganteum, I am not surprised he crying I am sure they take donkey years to flower then die.

Why you apply after cut at this time of the year ? After cut high in nitrogen causes soft lush green growth which can damage your grass if / when it freezes. Unless you have a autumn after cut ?

Evening :)

We've had drizzle for most of the day.....but grateful for any falling moisture (y)
Had a good housework spree today....even cleaned some rugs! They are still a bit damp though.(n)

Think tomorrow is going to be an OK ish day ,hopefully I will continue tidying up the big border that I started yesterday.... that's my plan!!!;):ROFLMAO::LOL:

Apricot rose sounds gorgeous @alp:)

I have a mixed lot of Dahlias, some as I've already said are well and truly over and very tatty while others are blooming non-stop with loads more buds to open.....very strange this year!!

The best about the apricoty rose is that the cuttings are free. Just finished watching Strictly Come Dancing. Katya was very good at her choreography.

Have dahlia buds everywhere and I hope they will all flower as the temperature is going to go up next week.

Don't think it will freeze as the temperature will be up again. Topsy Turvy year! Pray for me though! LOL! £1.99 and consider the heat from my neighbour, everything should be fine. Today, it's all quiet on western front. So sweet and I'm so happy! Even ex said that he hoped we could sell the house soon.

I was thinking of buying the bulb for the Cardiocrinum giganteum.I have tried the seeds, but they just died on me because it's too hot where I put the seed tray.

Ooops! Rafa lost his magic touch! Mour should have started with good players like Mata! Strictly has too many too good dancers. Need to see how much they charge for Wild Swan as I have just heard Ker-ching on son's laptop!

Was watching the Gold Coast Killer and was horrified to find out the finale actually finished at midnight last night. Was a not worried as any time past 11pm was out of my comfort zone as I would just fall asleep during the episode. As the serial killer/rapist was inactive for a long time before being caught, a lot of psychological bubble went on and I suddenly saw another episode Call in the dog in the UK on the screen. It was 0:03 when I woke up. I had to sleep downstairs to minimise disturbance. Confiscated son's phone and the whole night has been punctuated by notification jingles. So annoyed. How can young people sleep with their phone. in their bedrooms? The whole night has been jingling with notifications trivial ones, too.
