Love this:eek::LOL::ROFLMAO:

Bloomin' large! Garden centre worker, 30, grows monster 18ft sunflowers in his back garden that are as tall as a nearby building using recycled tea leaves as his secret ingredient
  • Arif Khan, 30, grew the massive sunflowers at his family's home in South Woodham Ferrers, Essex
  • The garden centre worker uses tea and coffee to fertilise the soil for his 18-foot high sunflowers
  • Mr Khan grew his first sunflowers aged ten and will harvest the seeds from this year's crop for next year
  • He admitted he might need help to dismantle his giant plants as they have grown as tall as his house

    On an alarming level
Scientists warn US military could use GM insect project to create drought resistant crops as an 'agricultural bioweapon'
  • Experts say 'Insect Allies' project could be perceived as hostile
  • Project will use GM insects to help protect crops from drought and disease
WHAT IS THE INSECT ALLIES PROJECT?
The stated aim of the Insect allies project is to: Pursuing scalable, readily deployable, and generalizable countermeasures against potential natural and engineered threats to the food supply with the goals of preserving the U.S. crop system.'

The State Department said the project is for peaceful purposes and does not violate the Biological Weapons Convention.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said its scientists are part of the research, which is being conducted in contained labs.

Morning! :)

A grey start here but we've been promised sunshine today. Not quite as warm as you today @alp, a high of 19C
We're expecting rain tomorrow as well, really need a good soaking

One load of washing is ready to go out, just hoping there aren't anymore huge bonfires lurking behind the hedge.

Might go into town to do the grocery shop this morning. Don't really fancy traipsing round the shops in the rain tomorrow.

Have a good day:)

Same here - one load of washing finishing and I need rain very badly. Guy Fawkes is here and I am afraid your thought of no more bonfires will be dashed.

Might go to gc on Sunday. Was thinking of going to Hyde Hall, but petrol costs. According to the BBC weather report tomorrow, I should be happy as a lark. The met office one is a damp squid. Who to believe? Wish I had that many days of rain as predicted in :mad:Perki 's chart. Mind you, don't think I can live there. Too much rain!

It's just too hot to work in the setting sun. Like summer again. Can't visualise 13c tomorrow. Guess I will complain for a very different reason tomorrow.

And thanks for the Echinacea info....I had heard that the birds love them.........but don't they get tatty looking!!! I might be able to stand looking at them ( just!!;)) but I know they will drive hubs mad!!:ROFLMAO:

JBtheExplorer has got some very pretty pictures of them in winter. Seedheads against the snow. (I'm not sure which thread.) They get little snowy caps! :joyful:

:D:LOL::ROFLMAO:It's either your birthday or you're desperate for $$$$$!

:D It's going in the "House fund." I'll be getting overtime for the next two weeks. When the overtime runs out, I'm thinking about hunting another part-time job. (Why not? Winter's coming. If I have to be stuck inside, might as well get paid to do it somewhere. While I wait for spring.)

I want it and I want it now! Just wonder how old you are? A millennial like my son?

You should have known better. I was thinking of applying my After Cut 3 days. After reading the instruction, decided against it - apply between Feb to September. Or the frost will get it. Think you'd better get a fleece over them or effort wasted.
