Evening @Perki , sounds like you've had a busy day.

Thanks for your kind comment, trying desperately to get the garden sorted before the cold weather hits us. Ashamed :shame: to admit that I tend to be a fair weather gardener, hate getting cold/ wet. Winter for me is mostly spent with a mug of hot chocolate and the radio in the greenhouse......trying to look busy :ROFLMAO:

Perki So your whole family love gardening? Wonder where your mum bought yours. I was very happy with the stuff I bought from Farmyard in Wales. Although the labels were a bit mixed up, but the flowers are gorgeous. The worst is T&M. I reckon Zenj never has had a black hellebores because I bought them from them. And despite sending me another lot, the last replacement has been even worse and I have given up. I bought some from Hayloft and some from Unwins. Hayloft are accurate in their stuff. Unwin, I don't know yet.

The lady who gave me an insect zapper told me that she bought organic compost for £1 (probably 25 to 40L). She said there was a big warehouse in Clacton which sold stuff very cheaply. But it is now over for the season. Gutted. Come to think of it, buying plants from gc is just so dear. A pot of blue grass is £14?? I wish I could sell any of mine like that. I can't even make enough money to buy compost.

Come on, Perki - young man like you sitting in the dark?!

I wouldn't say my whole family love gardening, my dad done garden maintenance for about 30-35 years, my older sisters/bother have all worked with dad so have bit of a interest in gardening, my bother is a landscape gardener building stone walls etc, grandad was a keen veg grower and did a bit of gardening for other people. I've been working with my dad since I was 10 or 11.

On my mum side probably just her and grandma but I don't remember her much, my mum got her greenhouse now, my mum has a thing for collecting fuchsia's. I think my mum likes gardening when I am doing it for her :ROFLMAO: she does a lot her self to be fair, I just do the heavy / most of the work

They only me really interested in plants. my mum interested but not obsessive like me .

I always have the lights off I am saving lekki and the planet, if I was reincarnated I would either come back an owl or a vampire :vamp:

:ROFLMAO:, No it just wouldn't stop playing his music playlist when asked.....I even tried over the phone ( phone being put on loudspeaker) , but nope it wouldn't do as asked:confused: There were problems all over Europe yesterday with a lot of Echo devices, but they seemed to have solved them now. We didn't experience any with ours thankfully(y)

:D:love:

Make sure it's an owl. We saw an owl when we left and the flash from my camera made it turn its head!

Working with your dad since you were 10 or 11, you must have gardening in your blood. I never seriously am interested in any design. I just want to see something flower. Love the colour and shape and didn't really know much about ericaceous compost until 3 years ago. I could hear you burst out laughing now and my face all red/purple/scarlet!

Why do you need an Echo! It's just one way Amazon relieve you of your money! Did yours say, Upsy, don't forget to weed your Ox eye daisies?

I think I don't need to be told, alp - time to go to bed! See, I'm as good without paying lekki or dough for an Echo!

We have an Echo Show so we can drop in on our eldest son,:ROFLMAO:( he also bought it for us )My Dad has a ordinary Echo, gives us peace of mind as he won't get a call alarm. We know that if he falls he can just call out to contact us via ours, landline or mobile. My brother has an ordinary one too( but he has a call alarm) but he uses to remind him of appointments etc, because of his memory problems but also a good backup to his call alarm. Believe it or not @alp it does serve some good purposes . Because we have the Show we can call it when away and view inside our house too, and ask it to turn lights on and off....very handy when you live in remote, quiet areas !

And yes it does remind me to bring the washing in!!:D(y) Our washing line is right round a corner in our garden that we cant see from indoors , and as the evenings darken earlier I often forget until it's too late and everything becomes damp. So now on wash days I ask it to remind me at 5:30!!:)(y)(y)

Yes, it's very helpful to have that bit of help when you have people of your dad's age and your brother's problems. I have been lucky not to have been beset by family health problems. Most old people here have an alarm once they have had a fall. It's a matter of life and death. Now you've convinced me that Echo is not just for ordering cereal when the dog messes up the content.;)

It's actually windy and drizzly outside. A bit of moisture will help my grass seed grow.

Good morning - As the days get shorter, washing might not even dry in a bleak day.

Indian summer is over

There could be snow on high ground in the North from mid-October and a white winter could be in store more generally thanks in part to a weak El Niño – a weather phenomenon linked to warm water in the Pacific.

The South should see a cloudy start today, clearing later to fine conditions with good spells of sunshine.

Britain's long, hot summer is over: Temperatures to plunge as drivers are urged to prepare for frosty nights

  • Temperatures are set to plunge dramatically today after sunny weather
  • There will be daytime highs of no more than 17C (63F) over the weekend
  • Motorists are being warned to prepare for morning fog and frosty nights

Glad that we went to the zoo yesterday as the weather was gorgeous. Guys: Don't forget free entry to all RHS flagship gardens on 2-3 October. Hope you make a memorable day of it!

Morning!:)
A bit of a mixed bag today with the weather. Cloud with sunny breaks this morning but after 1pm we should have full sunshine back for the afternoon. Down to 1c tonight though:eek::cold:
Looking out the window the leaves are beginning to fall quite heavily now, keep seeing flurries of them passing by the window.....leaf mould making time has well and truly arrived:D(y)
Have a great day everyone:)
