If you mean this leaf, it is certainly acanthus mollis. Very prickly flowers and they have very long roots - impossible to get rid of in East London!

@Upsy Daisy

I first saw acanthus mollis in my late mother in law's and they were gorgeous

I planted them at home and lordy, it has been impossible to get rid of them because the roots extend such a long way down. Now they come up wherever they like. Another intruder which thinks it owns my garden!

And next time when you go to National Trust properties, please look around as acanthus mollis motifs are literally everywhere!

My Mum must have planted it as my Dad only pots up the summer tubs. It's a nice medium sized clump that must have been planted there at least 14 yrs ago, so I wouldn't have concerns about it spreading . Thanks though for the name, will have a Google :)(y)

Aren't we all ?:LOL::ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:
Finished one episode of Beechgrove and now onto the latest one!

going to watch GW too. I really want to try ginger lily, but didn't find any seeds. Also the tall giant lily which made the grown man feel so chuffed that he wanted to cry. Imagine growing such a giant! The hedychium seeds I bought all turned out to be nothing. Probably dried out because of the heat!

There is another plantain. Ribwort plantain.

I didn't know it could be used as a rooting agent.

If you can find a willow tree, it can be used to encourage rooting. (y) Google "willow water." :)

Yes, that's he one. Good day to you, @MaryMary ! I actually had a handsome one growing out in the smaller border. In the end, it had to go as I had never used it as a rooting agent. Can't remember how it was used. Now it's languishing at the back garden. Need to get going before it's too cold or too hot to sort out the house and garden as I need another evaluation. Thank you for the valiant effort of locating the relevant info.
