Morning @alp and good night @MaryMary ,thanks for the links :)(y)

Definitely getting cooler by the day now, not looking forward to winter at all. Why does summer seem to fly by and yet winter goes on and on forever??:(

Hopefully going to continue sorting out the borders today in preparation for winter plants.

Have a brilliant day ( nights sleep:sleep:)

We're still very warm here! Well, there might be an additional contributor to the heat. Been out watering and thinking about where to site my Phygelius Rectus Salmon Leap. Strange that it could be so hardy.

By the way, if @Leeski is free and reading this, I think the leaves you're asking about could be Hamamelis, but I could be wrong!

On paper ( so to speak) our temperature isn't bad really 20c today but I think it's a mixture of cooler nights and damp air in the morning, we have quite a heavy dew on the lawn every morning now.

This mix doesn't suit my bones at all:(

But hey shouldn't moan when we think of the weather situation in other parts of the world....keep safe everyone facing such awful experiences.(y)

Yesterday, I also bought a £2 Philadelphus variegated plant. Hopefully, it will give out perfume. So wanted to buy another oceanthus, but they kept dying on me. 2 of them @£2 and all dead as dodo! Very upsetting.

In Beechgrove, Chris Beardshaw introduced a lovely white phlox .. Very pretty! He was doing a white border.. and a lady has white all along her border. What a good idea - she could probably see them in the depth of dead winter! The hydrangea Annebelle was soooo pretty!

The way summer ended has been brutal. I have been watering my lawn. As the growing season is drawing to a close, I can afford the extravagance of watering my lawn or what is left of it. Been watering it every morning and day! Hopefully, it doesn't look so bad when someone comes to give an evaluation. On reflection, a lot of my dahlias have disppeared - the Explosion has never come back, nor has Frosted Tip or Otto's Thrill!:cry::cry:

Although I enjoyed the heat this summer, it has been a brutal year for the garden....what a mixture this year has thrown at it!!!.
I know I complained about the display our plants were giving us but all in all they've done remarkably well . They are going out on a high as we have great colour out there now, they just waited for coo!er temps it seems. Nature knows best!:)(y)

I am very happy with some of my dahlias and the yellow/orangy ones and the pink/white ones have given me a continuous display. Polka is a bit top heavy. When you come to think of it, top heavy blooms are a torment for the plants and us. The stems invariable snap and the flowers bury their face on the next tallest support/plants and like the Paso Doble, I didn't even know it had flowered.

As you pointed out, the height info given can only be taken with a pinch of salt or that I have given the plants the optimum growing condition or the heat has made them come out late and the plants surge forward to produce flowers and seeds regardless of their usual height!

Aye, a few sweet surprises along the way!
