Yes, late flowering. Roses actually flowered and they were red. I thought last year the flowers were pink. I must be getting poisoned and my faculty not functioning property. I was surprised to see red roses on that standard. The purple rose I had from cuttings from a park is doing so well. It had about 8 buds on a cluster! I will take more cuttings and plant them there.

Yes, very nippy, but 24c is something nice to look forward to!

Off now!

I thought we would have rain today or yesterday. But no, not a drop. Now that plants are winding down, I don't panic so much. Imagine having all that rain if we lived in Cumbria .. enough to give you depression.

Good morning - If you start with something easy, it will boost your confidence.

A bit grey, but the house is warm. At one point, it was hot in the back bedroom. Going to swap places of the table and shelf in the lean to today and hopefully the peppadew will get more sun. Or I should leave this until the hot spell is over.

Son told me of the calamitous weather report by Express

WATCH: Hurricane Helene to BATTER Britain as terrifying chart shows 110MPH WINDS
HURRICANE Helene is charging towards the UK and a terrifying chart shows its expected power as it reaches landfall with gale force winds and heavy rain.

The shocking WX Chart shows the storm hurtling in from the Atlantic, making landfall from Tuesday with the most intense wind gusts expected to reach 110 mph.

According to the chart, the storm will be travelling in a north-easterly direction and will hit the south of Ireland before travelling to England and the rest of Europe.

The chart reveals Hurricane Helene could bring warm weather to Scandanavia and Western Europe.

According to Ireland’s Met Éireann weather service, there is “a lot of uncertainty in the details for early next week but indications are for very disturbed weather”.

I think Perki and Leeski will have more rain!

Actually, the storms do look frightening Source

A dramatic satellite image shows Hurricane Florence, Tropical Storm Isaac and Hurricane Helene (left to right) in the Atlantic Ocean earlier this week. Helene could turn towards Britain later this week and bring wet and windy weather on Tuesday

Weather apart, I wonder what I should do with the 3 lovely 59p beetroots that I bought yesterday in Lidl!

They looked so good, fresh and so cheap - nearly half price of those bought somewhere else! But now they are like a headache! Juicing pickling? How to pickle these things?

Hi everyone.
Not going to be quite so sunny today, but still good.

Have an appointment first thing this morning then we might take a picnic and have a walk along the river at Mottisfont.

That weather map looks really scary @alp

Have a great day:)(y)

Well, I live in Greater London (and I kept saying Essex!) Forgot that I actually live in a London Borough! So the storms are more likely to affect SW - Cornwall, Devon and Cumbria will always have rain .. Do want to have a bit of rain though.

Going off soon and thanks for the link, Upsy! @Logan good day for a domestic goddess like you!

True they don't need to be, but the taste is more intense when roasted rather that boiled in water(y)
