I'm not worried about the hellebores they will recover, not sure about the biennial wallflowers, all the leaves have gone. I put so much effort into them.

I wish I had sheets covering the whole garden. I was getting desperate. No, not Egyptian cotton sheets, but plastic cover for tomato greenhouse, crates, polystyrene fish box from Pets at Home.. Even the lid of the old incinerator..

Feel so sorry for your wallflowers. Hope you have some seeds left and can start again. Finally, my white single petunia in the warmest corner of the garden died.

Whatever you do, don't walk on darkened patches of hard ice. Compacted snow/ice will lead to slipping or fall. Please stick to clean snow on pavements! Take care when you are out and about.

Thanks @alp yes I'm very careful when out.
I've got more wallflower seed but they won't flower this so called spring.
Sorry about your plants, it's so worrying when you take the time to plant them. But i think they'll recover.:)

I hope what you said is true. The hellebore lily alone cost me £12.50! Ouch!

Yes Ouch that's a lot for one. After this it will take a few days to recover. I have some in pots and they get neglected and they still servive.

Morning, and what a very pretty one it is too!

Here is a pic from our bedroom window taken a few moments ago, the lane is still completely snow covered as we rarely get traffic.....the lane is a dead end.

That is expensive Alp but hellebores and rare snowdrops are like the upper class of the plant world yet worth every penny :) you have picked a costly genus to specialise in there.

Upsy, your area looks like bliss. Do you have neighbours? I want to 'escape to the country' away from all the noise and nuisances to be honest!

Thanks @Mark56 , yes we have one set next door, which is comforting to have , and two more further down the lane. I would feel a bit too isolated if I lived alone, as we don't have street lights and hardly any cars go by.....do get a lot of walkers though. We also have a beautiful lake opposite.....might have a walk around it later and post some pics:)

Upsy: Everything is perfect bar M3 for you. I live next to a busy lane and the house dances along when there is an oil tanker or supermarket long vehicle delivering stuff.

It was so cold outside yesterday that I started to understand why Perki said his fingers were frozen and couldn't finish his gargoyle. I was only out to lay sheets and whatever on top of plants and yet my fingers didn't feel like they belonged to me. Today the wind was terrifyingly cold. Wish I had my scarf. Weather is warming up as I saw a pattern on the snow and then realised that it was the herringbone brick paving pattern. So it must have warmed up. Can't wait for Sunday to come.

Yes, Mark: That was a hefty price, but I had never seen it before. It took me a 2nd visit to convince myself to buy it. Hope it hasn't died.

Very nice pristine snow and lovely photos, everyone! I used a pan to pick up the snow and chuck it on my planted areas. Every drop of water counts in Essex.

Snowing again. The snow I scraped off exposing the brick paving is replenished totally. I'm dreading the gas unit spent, so I drew my curtains closer.

My cosmo cupcakes are getting tall. Nearly 4 inches tall.

Petunia pirouettes have sown their little head.

A happy scene for kids.
