Yes Alp get it checked asap even if it means a treacherous outing in the snow and cold, wrap up warm and even take a hot water bottle with you if necessary. Better safe than sorry. You are right about your neighbour, it is no life to be bed bound

Yes it sounds like a heart problem, get it checked right away. It will damage your heart if you leave it.

Just wonder when this miserable weather is going to finish. Now they throw in a spanner - a storm is coming.

The rain and fog stopped, and this morning was just overcast. I finally managed to plant the second crop of onions and planted carrots and lettuces. I've been waiting two weeks to get out and plant! If the rain stopped, the wind came up and would blow away my seed. Frustration doesn't begin to cover my feelings!

Have you got a fleece of some sort? I feel for you. With the atrocious weather, we literally can't do much outdoors. I am OK as I raise mainly flowers. For veg growers, it's pure disaster. Hope the winds take note of your foreboding and behave!

The snow has stopped and it's not that cold outside. The whole of my front lawn and driveway is completely covered in snow. Very pretty.

Good morning to all: Woke up earlier to a darker day. Snow is still there, but it's now snowing.

Yesterday, I sowed some more seeds - sugarsnaps, bamboo, Chrysanthemum Eastern Star, clematis durandii, Echinacea Firebird and some lilac delphinium.

Reality of those green-fingered myths
MYTH: Put coffee grounds in the garden to fertilise your plants and reduce waste.

REALITY: Caffeine and polyphenols in coffee may be toxic to plants and worms. Coffee grounds can be beneficial, but only if they’re composted first to reduce levels of chemicals.

MYTH: Use vinegar to turn your hydrangeas blue by making the soil more acidic.

REALITY: It would take a few bottles of vinegar, which could harm hydrangea roots, so it is better to use aluminium sulphate.

MYTH: Tidy up daffodils by tying up their leaves after the flowers are gone.

REALITY: This may mean an inferior display of daffodils next year, as it damages leaves and hampers photosynthesis.

MYTH: Stake a newly-planted tree or shrub to protect it from wind, which can tear the roots.

REALITY: Wind stress encourages trunk thickening, so staked plants may be thinner and snap or be uprooted.

MYTH: Improve water drainage by covering holes at the bottom of plant pots with pot shards (‘crocks’) or gravel.

REALITY: This can waterlog plants, as water flows more quickly through potting compost.

Been out with barley, put on another layer of clothing. Got some gloves and thick socks.
I was a bit better, but my hands were still getting cold.

@Upsy Daisy you should have snow today, it's coming up from the south. It might just miss us, we're on the edge of it,but it's still very very windy.

Raining heavily in Upsy's way, perhaps. Seems to me the rain band has dissipated a bit coming up from France. I can't wait till Sunday when the temperature will be a big 5c!
