Jamie Oliver is a joke the day he made it the chef was off sick and Jamie took his place
Ramsay earned his first star off the back of Marco Pierre White and then just employed good head chefs he’s a business man not a chef ! The best chefs are not on tv !

I have no choice and they were picked by ex. He's offloading them to me. When I did the same with my potatoes, he moaned and son was annoyed with both of us! I prefer slowing cooking them. Should I slow cook them and freeze them?
You can leave them to ripen off the tree, that's what i do when i buy them.

I've never heard of slow cooking them. Didn't you try that last year? They didn't do very well.

Cook them first then freeze.

When i had room in the freezer, i used to make and cook the pies portion them up then freeze.

Did your son have a wonderful birthday @alp? I forgot to ask. The Nando’s looked delicious but yes it is very pricey. There is a similar place called gourmet chicken if you have one local but it is more Cajun style.

@Upsy Daisy I see Winchester has rain, were you lucky enough? We have nice, steady drizzle with no wind. Pure bliss. More to come and thunderstorms apparently. I’m hoping the weight of it doesn’t snap any Dahlias. Perki and Zenj must be hoping for the opposite, sun sun sun.

Has anyone noticed the trees? So many shedding leaves because of the drought, it’s August but everything is so tired it looks like October. They are saying Autumn will come early as a result, not sure about the weather though

I been rain here most of the morning, very heavy showers. Had a dry /cloudy - sunny day yesterday. Just took bob to the vets for a beak trim again (n). Not much happening today due to the weather. I think I'll go and pick some tomatoes for dinner tomato - cheese and pickle butty :) yum.

Just experiment!:)

Cinnamon
Cloves (Good old Granny )
Nutmeg ( yum)
Mint
Sage
Anise
Rosemary

Add a sprinkle and taste test......you'll be pleasantly surprised at what works well with apples.
It does of course depend on what you are cooking..savoury or sweet dishes(y)
Have fun!:)
I agree, but be careful with nutmeg and cloves, they're a strong spice :)

The one with the loveliest photos are from you, @Zenj and others!

It is PELTING DOWN now with sleet thrown in. I dug up a bamboo and had to dash back in and out and every time I dashed out, I did it with optimism, but had to dash back like a dog with its tail it between. Such heavy rain all lasted for 5 minutes or less, but proper lashings!

Such lovely gladiolus and stunning photos!

Ditto Alp! We had steady rain for an hour and a half before that too. I’m convinced most of it flowed away in to the drains as the ground was too dry to be absorbed.

I have my weapon - wood chips - they are all over my back garden - soaking up the rain and covering the west-facing concrete ground even though they were FUMING when I put them down. And I dug little ditches around the borders - very pathetic attempts, but if they keep a bit of water, my plants will be very happy as it was bone dry and baking hot here!

Does Marco Pierre White own any restaurants at all, Leeski? When he's in the news, it's because of his son!

Yes, I believe so. My lawn is hardened into cracked clay clumps with horrible spidery weed everywhere. But if I started doing anything, I would never be able to stop. Probably just sell up cheap. Too much for me to do and son is not exactly a diy person. Wouldn't be fair to burden him with too much.
