We always have loads of bees in our garden due to all our lavender bushes , and we also always seem to have a nest or two in the garden. One place they always return to is in the overhanging front door porch.....but then suddenly about a month ago they all seemed to die....bodies everywhere, we think it was the overbearing heat up in the eaves.....despite water being available to them:(

So frustrated by the ridiculously high winds, my Agastache Black Adder which i’ve been admiring daily from the window (when I can’t get out far) are completely flattened :( same for the asters. Why weren’t we warned?! BBC do indeed say a light breeze. From wall to wall sunshine to a winter storm

Morning all.
I know you've probably gone now but have a nice day.:)
It's good that your son likes to roam.:)

We mother hens all know what sons are like - roam and mine likes driving until just now.

The car drove up and up and up and we are in the midst of mountains. It's so scary. Finally the hotel was found at the end of a stick with a bit of water going near

We were sent to that dog house that you can see. It stank and I asked for a change of room. We are both happier now.

We are in the middle of nowhere!! Next time, I must find out how long it takes to drive to the hotel.

We left the hotel 8am and got stuck at the barrier. A man trying to help us nearly had this brolly blown off. It was turned inside out. After 10 minutes, son drove nearly 2 hours to reach Levens Hall - home of Topiary. But it rained and rained and rained.

We literally took sheltered under one topiary.

Photos are not very good as it was dark and it rained and rained and one of my hands was holding the brolly. The poor worker blames the weather!

Yes, I never expected such high winds in your areas. One would think it's safe in the middle of the country and you're not even near the coast, like poor @Upsy Daisy ! Please take some cuttings. I have taken salvia cuttings and 3 have already flowers - the Salmon Dance, Night moth and Love and Wishes. Don't know about agastaches though! But if they are flattened, it would be a shame not to have a go, Mark!

I wish I were there to collect the liquid gold. Guess what? After this, it will be a looooooong time before another round, especially for me. The rain is allergic to me!

I totally sympathise with you Mark.....so hearbreaking isn't it. I have now stopped myself from looking out of the window as I've been dashing in and out staking and tying up plants..most of which I had thought of as being sturdy.....zinnias have taken a bashing and my Sunset Boulevard amongst others.......sooooooo upsetting. You try you hardest to sow / propagate.....get them through a prolonged heatwave, only to watch them being destroyed by strong winds:(:(:cry:
