Fritillaria vulpis, stunning Alp. They like dry soil so will be right at home in the Essex desert! Booked a little trip for later on in the year with family & Barney incl. St. Ives, hoping to visit Burncoose and a few others on the way down. :) hopefully we'll be welcomed with warm sun, sea & sand

I think visiting famous nurseries is a good idea. Or even big store like Dobbies in Kent. Later in the year and St Ives and sun might not go together. But we never know. Lovely places though. Visiting nurseries has been a joy to me lately. I am still asking myself if I should have bought the Goldtaube, Blue Jay and Dixie blueberries yesterday at Bonnetts. They are £7.99 each. Even cheaper than those in diy gcs! Went to Fenland and the blueberries were from Holland and they were strong and full of growth, just like her thousands of buds hellebores.

Perhaps a good idea to google all the nurseries you know. How about Kelways? But I can assure you that stuff can be bought at other nurseries at the same price or even cheaper. Someone said that going after the flower shows, you will have tons of bargains. Wish I lived in the middle of England .. Too far to go to any of those...

Fritillaria with a very long name starting with a z or v?? Need to check. But these ones are quite big.

@alp how big a pot were those blueberries in?
It all depends on the size of them.:)

What I meant was the plants were very robust and I could see the strong and healthy stems. Judging from the appearance, they plants have been grown under quite a bit of calibrated heat and nutrients, quite unlike those I saw in the gc which were a bit spare and not that full of growth. This is the dilemma of imported and howe grown plants.

Morning, sunshine flooding in through the widows...glorious!

What are your plans for today?

Got my long-standing problem back today so not feeling a 100%. Depending how I feel it will be either outside in the sun or indoors tackling the ironing and housework.

Have a Super Sunny Sunday :)

Oh dear hope you feel better soon.
Hubbys sister is coming this afternoon, she lives in Paynton. But she comes up every few months, she doesn't stop long.

Been having a bit of trouble with the middle of my back, it aches a bit and get numbness in my legs. It goes off when I'm walking and i know that it should get better. I've had it before but if it doesn't go away i'll have to have it checked. But how long to leave it and try to get to see a doc.

Seen a chiropractor before and it took a lot of time before i felt an improvement. I wondered if it was just getting better by itself.

Sorry to hear about your back @Logan .....so many reasons for back pain. Yes it's always a dilemma deciding how long to leave things before consulting a Dr. With regards to backs then the sooner the better.......we rely on them for everything we do. Hope things improve for you soon.

Good afternoon - nice and sunny  it lovely and warm in the GH. Been out putting buckets /pots on plants just in case, I'll probably remove them when it snows for a bit of insulation. Moved a few terracotta pots in the GH , they are frost proof but not worth the risk for a minute job. Said on the radio yesterday that the beast from the east is going to delay spring by 2 weeks :(.

Ordered some raspberry canes and strawberry runners the other day :), just need to get some troughs for the strawberry's, I've had enough of planting them in the ground the slugs get for too many.

I would avoid buying any plants from GC at the moment @alp you don't really know where they been growing the last few weeks, let them look after them during the cold snap. Their loss if the plants suffer / die and your not out of pocket.

Take it easy Logan feet up time :barefoot:
