Rain at last not heavy but at least a small amount more tonight so thy say........

Very happy for you, especially when it rains at night. Last night, it was so hot that I don't want to go into detail. Just too hot, even with windows open. One good thing is that the sunshine is not that strong now. Yesterday this time, it was virtually throbbing with heat!

I think only @Mark56 , @Upsy Daisy and I are in the dog house. Hot, dry and no rain! Leeski: hope you collect some for future use. Rainwater is really better for plants.

In the middle patch, I suddenly saw a round hump crawl out of it and disappear into the next patch. I think I saw a HEDGEHOG! Whoa! It is not a rat as it it tooooo big and slow. Not a cat and it was too round an too humpy. When son's home, I will ask him to set up the camcorder to record my VISITOR'S movements. I have been putting tons of shelled sunflower seeds and wild bird food outside my lean-to with the very dishonourable purpose of trapping pigeon. OK, I admit, it's not nice of me, but we did eat pigeons back home as a delicacy.

I am glad you may have a hedgehog!! (y)

As to eating a pigeon, go for it!! Free food, and it's not like they're endangered! If anything, culling the flock a bit might provide needed food and territory for the birds that are borderline.

What are you using for a trap? And curious now... Where is "back home?" Oh!! And... If you are going to eat it as a delicacy, I believe you have to call it "Squab." :ROFLMAO:

Please do not eat the groundhog. They are just too cute.

I have had groundhog. City kids visiting country grandad, and he told us they were edible. My brother figured bigger was better, so got the biggest one he could. Old meat is tough meat. Add to that Grandad was not the best cook, and it was tough and greasy. Would not recommend.

No, for some strange reason, the hedgehog is spared. The real hog is famed for its crispy skin ..

No, not hedgehog, groundhog. Different animal. Woodchucks and groundhogs are the same, if you know it by "woodchuck."

It’s a nightmare grows like wild fire have looked at my options but as I’m renting my home for another six months I’m just going to pull it up by hand if I don’t keep up with it it goes mad even had it in my greenhouse between the bricks

Pour some boiling water on it. Slowly, let it get to the roots. (y)
