You can collect seeds from primula vialli after it finished flowering, I am not sure when but I would asume when the flower / seed head dry up, you will need to put the seed head in a envelope cause the seeds are like dust. I would sow some straight away why not and save some for another day. I started some off a few years ago, they took ages to show any growth so lost interest and they snuffed it. It be easier to split the plant BigC than growing from seed.

I actually planted two P vialli out yesterday for mum, one was moved from full sun cause it was wilting so I don't know how you go on @alp .

Very funny, @DirtMechanic ! Time to go to bed now!

Good morning to all. Just use one watering can of metered water. Crying a river! The dry air is roasting my Trollius, @Perki ! I bought some Vialli two years ago and it was planted near the Trollius, so no hope. I like the Candelabra more!

Going to scrape off the remaining colour of the teak set and will oil them. When I have money, will get some paint to pain them again.

Yesterday i collected polyanthus/primula seeds. It's best to sow them straight away and when i've sown them i put them in a plastic bag and put it in the fridge for 2 weeks. Bring them out and put them outside, it worked for me last year. Primulas do like a lot of moisture and good for big gardens. I like those candelabras.

Same here! Candelebras add a bit of height to the border and it's so unique. Unless I fashion a pond or water feature, there is no moisture to speak of in my garden.

Just now son washed the teak set and wetted everywhere in the lawn and the important borders. What a relief! I also watered for 45 minutes prior to that.

Wasn't bring rude @DirtMechanic ......just that all the growing information was based on your hardiness zones and growing regions...that was all I meant :)(y)

No offence intended .

All in jest and all in good intention! More sunshine:cool: for us again, @Upsy Daisy :sleep::cry::cry:! Smugmeister must be laughing his head off! I was so excited just seeing rain water on Monty's flower yesterday.:cry:

Going out soon, but there is no need to flee! Air is clean, for once!

@Perki is quite right. Layering or splitting of clumps is much more easier and faster than taking cuttings or sowing seeds. However, with seeds, there is always the surprise of new strain - that's why we have a little brigade of cross-pollinator. I would do some layering today as it gives the plants a chance to search for nutrients and new pasture. Much faster. I have layered some salvia .. Looking at Jim's Black and Blue, I wanted to cry. Mine is still ONE stick. Might not come back. A newly rooted cutting seems to be dying ..

@Upsy Daisy Nice day out as at least, the weather is glorious!

Good Morning to all my weed extracting friends
I was up at 6am sharp and out into the garden....First I snipped the runners from the strawberry hanging baskets in the greenhouse and topped the tomato plants (looks like being a bumper crop this year)...That done I concentrated on the pond area...4 bags of compost it took to backfill the waterfall then I planted in Creeping Jenny, Campanula, Heuchera, Astilbe and the rampant ornamental Grass (in a pot)...If it seeds itself it will run amuck in the neighbours garden hahahaha...I think I've landscaped it fairly well, just waiting to get some better pics when the sunlight adorns it..not bad for a tractor tyre I guess. I have one more little pocket of earth to fill at the side of the waterfall mould and its reserved for a nice Aubretia I think. Have a great day folks looks like it will be a hot one....Its time now for me to relax and enjoy the pond with a cool beer in hand...

6am Making a start........
