Yellow foliage on dianthus may also be caused by a nitrogen deficiency within the plant. Both can be corrected with the proper supplemental fertilizers. Dianthus are susceptible to several fungal diseases. ... Fusarium infected plants first develop a dull green color and eventually wilt and turn straw-color.

Evening all, I never been keen on carnations / pinks bit of a girly plant and old fashioned. I do have one but its always under threat of eviction.

Been round to mums and drilled some holes under the windowsill for some trough planters. Plant up two dahlias in other pots as well. Dropped some plants off for someone this morning and ended up with 2 more baskets to fill, very low on plants I want to part with, manged to get enough plants together to fill them.

A rare things these days but had a unexpected downpour for the past hour and a half :) garden really need it, thing will start greening up again, especially the lawn.

Here, Princess Diana can be bought for £1.99. You just have to be patient. Today, I saw Magnolia being sold in B&M for £1.99. I don't think Kate will go down too much. Do you know how much Parker charges for delivery to Ireland though!?

Best way forward is to phone around to see how much they charge for them. But Princess Diana went for £1.99 and that nearly made me cry. Joy for others. I don't rate the flower for Princess Diana much. I do love Princess Kate which is sold under licence, so not a lot of gcs stock them. If you can go to market square, have a look around. That's where I got my £2 alstroemeria. Having said that, another stall selling a strand of Salvia Amistad for a lot of money. Once I saw a lady parting £7 for a salvia. My heart bled for her! They were cheaper in diy gcs when reduced and they are in 3 to 5L pot. That made a lot of difference.

@Perki Don't rub it in. I had 2 minutes' of rain yesterday and now everything is bone dry. Will ask son to wash the teak furniture as an excuse to water the borders. Today, I potted up tomatoes with strings the way Monty showed us. I have about 8 strings in one tomato greenhouse. The whole thing might collapse or all the plants die inside as it is too hot.

Drought fears as Britain’s reservoirs dry up – and forecasters predict three MORE months of heatwaves with temperatures rocketing to 85F until August
  • Get your sun-cream at the ready as UK will be treated to temperatures of 85F (29C) by the first week of July
  • Most Britons basked in glorious sunshine today and parts of the South enjoyed temperatures of 76F (24C)
  • But a lack of rainfall in the North West has left parts of the Lake District with drastically low water levels
  • Met Office says temperatures are set to dip by the end of next week before skyrocketing back up

    :cry::cry::cry:

    I can see no rainful for the whole of next week! :cry::cry:

    I am not keen on carnation or sweet Williams either. I feel bad killing them. I did kill some very wishy washy hellebores as I am running out of room for them.

"There's now't so strange as folk"

So here is another one. " There's no place so strange as Britain" One minute people lose everything due to flooding. Next the water is running out. Predictions are that as a result of climate change, sea levels will rise. For the South of England, is is expected that many towns will be flooded to a devastating degree. Little or no advance action is being taken. When water is in short supply, the suggestion of building desalination plants or even more reservoirs, the idea is blown to the wind. Well it only happens now and again. Similar response to severe winters when everything comes to a standstill. What's your take?
