@BigC Lovely hosta. I also used ash and cinder to deter slugs and snails. But they appeared where my weapon had run out. I even used tons of them to line the bottom of my salad fabric planter but since 2 days ago, they gained a foothold probably via my potted plants around them. Did you go with a shovel when visiting bluebell land, BigC?

Today, I visited the lady who gave me fishing tackles and chairs. I want to start my son on fishing, and will buy 2 licences when I have a bit more money. Have to do MOT soon. She has a big collection of lovely plants. An apricot tree as well. This is what I am after now that I have a nectarine tree. I thanked her by giving me a Bowl of Beauty.

Thank you, @Upsy Daisy ! Your roses are very pretty and look like my peonies, but they are more versatile and flower longer and that's why Perki got rid of his peony. I nearly bought one from Lidl - a white single one at £7.99. My £1 Scarlett Paul have flowered beautifully.

There were 5 more on the other side.

Very pleased with my peony now.

I hope my Dyson's Joy will have as many blooms as the one I saw in the house of the man who gave us the lawnmower. I was very thick-skinned and asked for cuttings, but he said it belonged to his neighbour. There were MASSES of blooms.

This is one of the seed pods of my irises - I hand-pollinated myself or it could have been son who did it.

My bottlebrush bush standard. The umbrella inside my lean to is used to lower the temperature. The design of the lean to is a total failure - all my fault. It should have some windows on the roof. Now, it is baking when the sun is out.

We went to Aldi today to try to buy some teabags and celeries. The queues were horrendous and there were at least 6 customers to one till. Cash only as the internet was down and we later found out the Visa is down. We gave up and the chaotic scene and the long queues just put us off. A young woman just pushed her trolley out without paying! Ah?!:eek::eek:

Saw that on the news, caused a lot of problems. Strangely people could use their cards to make contactless payments on London buses though....so the news report said.

We saw no problems in B&Q, Homebase or my favorite nursery, but Aldi was totally paralysed. But the cheek the woman had to walk out with her trolley just like that! A bit brazen. Off to bed now. Good night to you, Upsy and all the others or perhaps good morning to forumers from down under ..

Not really proper Forest Pk. etiquette..but was sorely tempered to take trowel along when the blooms have gone and so have the onlookers lol

I've just used my Visa to order more equipment for my Biergarten and the transaction went through via worldpay fine...
@alp my Bottle brush is not happy any ideas...and those candy tuft are to die for whats the latin nomenclature for this sp.

Hi all :) warm and a bit humid today, had a short shower earlier with huge rain drops and a prolonged rain spell during football this evening. Up the road ( 2 mile or less ) at 6pm they had a flash flood while it was nice and sunny at home, I could see the dirty big black cloud when returning from the vets, Bob the bird had a beak trim its been in a bad mood all evening.

Just been out slug / snail collecting, I had been squishing them most of the week but I felt a bit guilty today so put them in the brown bin, I am sure the slugs can get out .

I had seen recently that Visa had gone down. I am a cash person anyway, I like to see what I spend. Things can get out of control buying plants online

Some lovely pictures posted, I really like the picture with bluebells in the woods @BigC

Good morning to all! A bit dull and grey, but no doubt the sun will blare or glare at me soon.Yesterday, more hellebore seeds picking and the serrated leaves scratched my arms badly, not to mention the heat and humidity even though it was 5pm.

@BigC - your use of big words never fails to amaze me!

Not an expert at anything, but have a look to see what fits or is relevant

Normally, I would watch the videos, but son is sleeping so take your pick

@Perki Can we have a photo of Bob the bird please?

We won't have rained for quite a while. I don't like to carry cash, but really should start now as my reserve is dipping. The only time when I wanted to pay with cash is when I got a Beatrix Potter 50p coin in change. But more often than not, I got 2 one penny rather than a tuppence. and the tiny 5p tends to disappear for no reason.

Yesterday when i was in the front garden, next door asked me if it was alright to put her tomato plants out, i said yes it's the end of may it's alright to put them out.:)

Then last night i had a dream about them.
We both put our tomato plants out and there was a frost. I went out to have a look and they had wilted and mushy. Then i felt guilty about next door. Then i woke up.:):ROFLMAO:

Thank heavens it's only a dream! I would look at the weather forecast before I dished out suggestions!

I breed a lot of fish and Latin names and terminologies are the norm..likewise in the plant world I expect, if watching GW and the likes is anything to go by...I really like those Candy Tuft.
Yeah @Perki the Bluebell shot was taken with a Canon camera, much better than your normal phone images. Try the ASH method for the slugs mate....it seems to work very well for me at least, my Hosta is getting a chance now to show what it can do...obviously its not 100% effective but its pretty close from where I'm standing right now..nothing ventured nothing gained I'd say...Grandad used to use it on his large Rhubarb mound...now I know the reason why...If you dont like BBQ's then ask the neighbours for their spent ash and cinders...it dulls down once wet and the SS still dont like to cross it...I've applied it once and its lasted about 2-3 weeks now and I will give it another dusting again soon just to keep on top of this irksome problem.

@Logan I have 2 tomato plant-lets left in the greenhouse in fibre pots..I may try therm outside also as the ones I gave to my daughter are really doing well....
