My Becky finds my cast iron heavy, but I love to brown food with it.

I have googled some makes and was on the point of ordering Swan. Le Creuset is good, but so heavy and expensive. This lady got a 2nd hand one for £30 in bootsale. Very rarely can one find something so good like that. I wish I hadn't given my Circuilon away. But it was too big for us and my friend was very nice to me, willing to be my guarantor when I was in dire strait. So I gave it away. I bought a cast iron pan, but hated it when I saw all the paint falling apart, so I returned it.

By the look of it, I have to switch to potatoes. Funny thing is that my son and I always feel hungry after a meal with potatoes.

If you use easy cook rice it won't be so bad because it's been partially cooked.

You could try giving your son yorkshire pudding before his meal that will fill him up.
